When did the Guitar Hero series become a phenomenon?!?

The series has announced it will release Guitar Hero III, the fifth version of the guitar jamming game, in early 2008. The soundtrack will include a wide variety of material, including tracks by Queens of the Stone Age and (possibly) new Guns 'N Roses. As of now though, the only tracks confirmed for the game are below.

Also, the "guitar" for the third edition will be a wireless Les Paul.........

GUITAR HERO III INITIAL TRACKLISTING
"Barracuda" - Heart
"Cherub Rock" - Smashing Pumpkins
"Cult of Personality" - Living Colour
"Even Flow" - Pearl Jam
"Knights of Cydonia" - Muse
"Lay Down" - Priestess
"The Metal" - Tenacious D
"My Name Is Jonas" - Weezer
"Paint It, Black" - The Rolling Stones
"Rock and Roll All Nite" - Kiss
"Sabotage" - Beastie Boys
"School's Out" - Alice Cooper
"Slow Ride" - Foghat

That would be really really cool.  Too bad it probably won't happen.  But here's to wishful thinking.

ya know i thought about the same thing the other day while watching my friend play. He was playing SCOM and is taking a real interest in old 80s bands. And then he heard about the leaks and i thought that was cool cause hes one of those assholes that says "awwh CD will never come out" but what ever and i said "ya know man they should have New G'n'R on there he then said "i couldn't wait to play them" smoking

i think they should have either TWAT, CHINESE DEMOCRACY(the song), or Rhiad and the beduoins Grin

i'd deffinatly but it ok

btw will it be for PS2 or PS3?

Guys! I know you are getting excited about the new stuff, going by the concert reviews and all - but you are talking about the future ?Tongue - one bit of advice:

Would it still be "new" by the time the game is gonna be released?  Tongue

Anyways, I guess it should be quite hard to play any new GNR song with Bucket (tho not as much as Jordan was in GH2)...

The game will be worth it for Even Flow alone.

As a little bit of a sidenote:

Did you guys hear that Slash is a playable character in Guitar Hero III? There are also two Velvet Revolver songs that will be playable. Slash said it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnh2JtkEKKY&mode=related&search=

For those that don't feel like watching he says She Builds Quick Machines and Get Out the Door.

I think thats why the guitar is a Les Paul Standard.

A little more on topic could you all imagine how nice it would be to play TWAT or The Blues on Guitar Hero III.

I love Guitar Hero. Currently trying to 5 star the tracks on hard. Fucking tuff. Anyway this would be damn cool if true. GH3 is so mine regardless. Just not sure whether I will get the Wii version (which will have some sweet new gameplay the others won't have) or the 360 one. Can't wait.

this is good news, because if they are thinking about giving guitar hero III a new GNR song, then the record must be close

They don't use the original vocals for the songs though, do they?? I know Sweet Child O' Mine on GH II doesn't have Axl singing... or am I smoking something??

Actually, due to the popularity of GH II, some record labels are allowing the publishing company to use the original tracks. By the way, I'm guessing this is to be released on PS3 and XBOX 360. By the 5th version, they mean - Guitar Hero I, Guitar Hero II (PS2), Guitar Hero II (Xbox 360), and the new PS2 80's think coming out in July - right?

The 80's version comes out soon, and the new version with the VR songs will be out in the fall for PS2, 360, and Wii.
