but i really do think that they are waiting till (most) everything is in order so that they can make an accurate announcement.

Perhaps the lack of any future scheduled concert dates is good news for the album.  Video shoot?  Finishing touches?

I believe it's the first mention of the album by Axl since his letter to the fans.  Which was when, last November?  Maybe Axl was just referring to his vocals personally not exactly the band as a whole, I dunno.  Very good to hear from Axl, shame on you who say he doesn't provide us with updates.  All we need is Baz to push him a little it seems.

These are not regular updates. At the very least most sites are updated on a weekly basis and most on a daily basis. This is the first update in a month and it has nothing to do with the state of Chinese Democracy.

Honestly this is the biggest whirlwind of news we've had in quite a while and im very happy. Might it be looking to far into things on my part, possibly but hell im excited we got some news

I wonder if he was referring to having time to record with Bach, that its works in well with future promotion or if it means it will keep the fans happy for another twelve months whilst he tours again without releasing the Guns album.

Well I believe he's off CD now. its done and he has a lot of time left cause some higher ups are doing the promotion stuff out there.
perhaps Axl was bored and felt it was a great time of doing something with music what he hasn't done in a long while since CD was finished, who knows. let's not jump to conclusions
