I don't know if this is old, but I saw it today on VH1.

November Rain was on top of the list.

TWAT Solo is superb... Though I'm not a big fan of BH, but this solo is definately one of the best ever! The beginnig with Robin playing is very emotional and then BH comes in and it becomes even greater...?

Simple Solo? Haha... That's funny... Robin's part might be simple but this makes it so powerful! And BH solo is - leaving all fanboy attitude beside - amazing! It's definately one of the greatest solos ever!

In contrast: November Rain solo is very good too, but it lacks the variety of the TWAT solo... Beleive me, I'm loving NR and Slash's solos but the TWAT one is better...

Yep, there is some thought behind it, and I don't often use that band's name (though there's nothing wrong with Velvet Revolver, you even have a whole section dedicated to that band).
November Rain was written by Axl but the guitar solo wasn't, and that's what this discussion is about: "November Rain Top Guitar Solo on VH1". If it was a top about "best song", "best lyrics", "best vocals", "best piano" then this would have been the place to discuss it but it's about the "top guitar solo", and that's Slash's contribution.
Yep, the song appears on an album written by a rock band named Guns N' Roses (best band ever) but we are we allowed to discuss topics about Slash, Duff, Izzy, Steven, Matt, Gilby, Buckethead or Tobias here? It's not about the song as a whole, it's not about the album, it's about one goddamn solo.
