At the moment my distance education students are writing radio plays featuring early Rock N Roll music. However, one of my 'special kids' can't get into old Rock N Roll (too slow!), so I have allowed him to use modern music.

We got talking about the Guns N Roses concert and he is now very keen to include at least 5 GnR songs in his radio play. We have decided on KOHD, SCOM, PC, WTTJ and he said that I can pick the last song.

Any suggestions? He is only 12 and GnR is all new to him. Any other advice that I can pass on to this budding young DJ? He would appreciate your comments...

Hey! Hey! In Tuesday's lessons we will be practicing the radio show so I get to play GnR songs!!  Can't think of any better way to get in the mood before the concert on Wednesday!!

I'd suggest Better and Chinese Democracy, but since it's early Rock N Roll, maybe Dead Horse, Bad Apples, Civil War or Yesterdays?

Of course we are talking any GnR song that has been released. By modern music I mean anything that isn't 1950s Rock N Roll.

Is there any comment that he can add when introducing the songs?

Keep it mainstream, LALD will add to the well known other songs, and the listeners will have heard it (even just as a McCartney version) They also represent good radio songs, good luck with this venture

Thanks! I'm glad i could sneak them somewhere in my lessons! After all GnR were they were 'the most controversial band of the last decade'.

I also so glad that I have been able to engage this student in a lesson using GnR. He used to just speak in monosyllables - now he wants to do a radio show every week!

A games teacher at our school corrupted a youth a one point. He got put away for fucking a 13 year old. also, GnR are ace!

Yes, I thought the title would grab people's attention. The Greek philosopher, Socrates was imprisoned for 'inciting' the youth. He tried to stir their minds!

Um, I don't think I want to push him that far...although that attitude will help him get back to highschool instead of distance mode.....don't worry, I have been teaching my students all about teenage rebellion and rock n roll music...
