Bring back the old version... at least the crowd knows how to sing to that one... the new one is all over the place.

I think they should drop this and live and let die off the setlist to make room for other full songs.

I agree, but I don't think there's even a chance of this happening until the new album comes out.

the UYI version, absolutly, it was more fun, the chorus was excellent, for Tracey n Roberta, amazing singers, the chemistry, the look, the image, I mean everything.

Even the Ritz version, was also good, 'cause it was very Appetite ok.

N when Axl asks some reggea again, never it's gonna be the same no

By far the best version the old band had to offer was the one from the Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert, which is the same version that is on Live Era! As for the new band Boston 2002 is probably one of my all time favourites, Buckethead's solo makes the song, its absolutly outstanding, especially at the end and it really pains me when this current lineup plays it! Bumblefoot tries to emulate Buckets parts but it never happens! Hopefully things will be different this time round

I don't think he does.  I thought Bucket's sounded clinical and dry.  Whereas Bumble seems to actually know how to play a slow solo. Tongue

Has anyone noticed  at the 6.24.06 show (which I was listening  to today), it  starts off in the new mode, then sort of morphs into the old mode, and  turns out to be a weird combination of the old  and new versions.
But through it all, it worked.

I like both. I think the  old version fit  that time period  for  the band, and the new version fits this time period  for this band.

I am a fan of the way it was done in "Illusions" until last year I heard the new version for the first time at Rio, the part I did miss was when he would say "and we've got Tracey and Roberta here to help you", then I saw them again in Vegas and again in my hometown of Everett, after hearing it live at those 3 shows I definately opened up to the new, mind u I am 42 years old and definately grew up with old "Guns" the love and respect that I have for Axl has allowed me to be nothing but open minded to the new band and to all the changes that come with it, I guess in my eyes, I am along for whatever ride it is they are gonna take us all on, and there isn't anything they do musically that I would ever dislike, their talents are endless.......

Does anyone think there's a chance the new version might end up on the cd?

Buckethead's solo in 2002 was pretty nice, and I really like BBF's solo lately so I'm going with present day version.

I love the new version. The middle section when Axl goes back & forth with the audience, then does the big wail is awesome.

Axl Did that On the old version as well. I prefer the version from the Illusions tours. Best ever-6-6-92. Slash plays an incredible solo thats like 5 minutes long. During it the rest of the band switches the tempo  around a bunch of times and it sounds great. 2 reggae breakdowns and Axl getting the crowd to sing along=Awesome.

I gotta say I like every version pre 93 a thousand times better than the current version.
I used to be one of my favorite songs in the set and it is now my absolute least favorite song they do.

My favorite version can be identified by 4 magical words.... "GIVE ME SOME REGGAE!!"

I agree

One of my favourite parts is the 2006? (I think...3 shows in a row) New York version especially the 3:30 to 3:40 section... where he holds the whoooo...whooo...yeh...hey..yeh...ya

i think most people will agree with me after they watch this that this is the best scream from Axl in all of 06 and it is up their with the best of 91-93.

Axl does something amazing in KOHD in Budapest '06.  I can't put it into words, but it hit me hard when I heard it.  It's as if he can sound like he's crying as he's singing...very cool.  He did something similar in the last verse of Madagascar same concert.  Cool
