Excellent reviews guys!  I really enjoyed reading them. Superloco-I totally agree with you when you said "My Michelle" needs Bach!  I bet it wasn't the same without him-esp. live!

Yeah, awesome.

It was awesome for the people that were there.

For the others that surf the internet and check the update threads, it's boring.

Hi guys,

Here is the review (part one) of "El norte" one of the most impotant newspapers in the north of Mexico.

I have been in two GNR shows in my life, the one in 93 and last saturday both in Monterrey.

Don?t want to repeat all that has already been posted about this show but I want to point two things before the review.

1-The set list was perfect it might be the same for the past few years but believe me nobody in Mty cared, most of the song were the second time were played live in this city if 14 years counts as been played and of course the first time for the CD ones, the next day I went sightseeing in monterrey many people on the streets were wearing their bootleg T-shirt, some stores and restaurants were playing GNR music, It was very cool and I was very proud to had been there

2-At the end of the show Axl said something telling us to be careful on our way back home, can?t remember the exact phrase but It was a nice touch, Dude! Axl cares!! lol

So Here is the review, sorry I don`t have a scanner to do it properly, I hope the translation is not too literal, didn`t like the way the paper treated the new band most of the article is "Axl Rose" and the people who is with him now.

English Version...

Thousands Wait Axl Rose for two hours.

HE ARRIVES LATE AND CONQUERS

Axl Rose is still in debt with the regiomontanos ( *people who live in monterrey the same as people who live in NY are new yorkers): GNR lider arrived in the city Saturday in time for his performance that night, but he decided to remain in the airport at his plane until the closest time for his performance, this make a record on been the longest delay ever registered on an international concert in Monterrey.
Almost all of the 12500 fans who sold out the tickets for this concert hold on the waiting sleepy and bored to death. An irritating two hour waiting or more if you consider the time of the opening acts.

The Arena Monterrey staff was confused: Around 23:40 hrs, the spoke man of Arena Monterrey, Alfredo Vernal said that he had no idea of the reason for the delay since Axl Rose plane had arrived earlier that Saturday. Other source told us that the singer arrived but stayed at the airport until later that night for reasons unknown. The rest of the band arrived the day before.

Finally the concert started at 00:40 hrs of June 4th with ?Welcome to The jungle? although near 100 people left before it started complaining and asking for their money back.

The opening acts started at 21:00 hrs, the first band was Maurizio Terracina`s ?The Voltures?, Maurizio used to played on the local bands Zurdok and Vaquero (We only let them play like 10 minutes lol they sucked big ), after that and later ?Maligno? took the stage but the crowd weren`t too happy to see them either.

But nobody expected that after the last opening act we would have to wait for over two very long hours before the band hit the stage, except for the hard core Axl fans for whom his visceral behavior wasn`t nothing new.

PATIENCE

At 23:35 when the crowd`s patience was almost over, several Monterrey transit police officers were seen backstage. And there is not that They were Axl`s special guests, If not that 5 minutes earlier they were Axl Rose escorts direct from the airport to the arena to let the traffic out of his way.
Now He was at his dressing room, at what time he was expecting to come out??. There are rumors that this kind of behavior was one of the reason his former bandmates left. As an example Slash who is one of the most remembered former Guns N Roses prefers to be a guest on Paulina Rubio?s Video rather than be with Axl, and that is to much to say.

The new band hired by the singer and owner of the Guns N Roses name have no choice other than stand him. Someone Said that Axl wasn?t sick or angry , he actually was very nervous due to the world tour starting in Monterrey after an 6 month hiatus.
This was a better concert than the one in 1993. A shame that the bad taste in the audience still remains after the lead singer way to much time to get in to the stage.

EXCELLENT AXL

Axl wore a Mariachi jacket for a while during the show , this time he was in good shape, great voice and without problems to control the stage. It was a two hour balanced set list based on fans favorites and three new songs who are supposed someday to be in the delayed almost for seven years album Chinese Democracy...The complete set list was....(please insert the set list here Grin..)

According to one of the staff?s lights guy the new songs are called I.R.S, Better and The blues.
The new band members (actually the literal translation would be Axl?s companions) are very competitive musicians who move their fingers as good or better than the former band members.

In the set list were some covers Paul McCartney LALD, Dylan?s KOHD and a very cool version of the Rolling Stones? Angie played on piano by an old time survivor Dizzy Reed and guitarist Ron Thai showed his talent with a Don?t Cry Solo.
The fireworks, the stage with Chinese characters , big screens, lights, the surprising Confetti at the end (*lol this guy needs to go out more), the great set list selection, everything, everything was perfect and was enjoyable for the audience.

A Perfect Concert....If Axl would had arrived two hours earlier.

wonderful review! See, noone cares about setlist. Not who is going to the shows.

*This was a better concert than the one in 1993.*

nice! so people from mexico now know band members, and they just loved them. At least, this show was better than the UYI's one.  Cheesy
