I'd say With Teeth and Year Zero are the 2 most similar NIN albums, which is weird because I love With Teeth yet find nothing too enticing about Year Zero.
Anyways, I love Trent's voice, it's extremely expressive and the whispers and urgent cracking screams are great.

I don't think YZ and WT sound at all alike.

WT is more rock oriented. YZ, is more "industrial," with more effects, white noise, etc., with hip-hop beats.

I'm not saying they're not seperate ideas, but comparing PHM, Broken, TDS, The fragile, WT, and YZ to me it is obvious that YZ and WT are the two most similar. Doesn't make them better or worse or whatever, just how I hear it.

I picked it up yesterday, myself. I just love the whole idea of this album, from the crazy net promotion, with the weird websites, to the "Be a Patriot. Be an Informer" on the back. And, after being initially turned off by some of the "noisier" tracks, I'm quite used to it.
And I give BIG props to NIN for streaming the entire album on their website! Labels must hate that, since most albums are so shitty that such streams would lead people to realize that they don't WANT to buy an album, but Trent's rightfully confident in his work, with this one. Some great melodies, too!
I love the creativity of the entire package. I had not paid much attention to it, and suppose I am pursuing it retroactively, but it is still fun to read, and sift through these websites/clips. I've never seen anything quite like this, and in turn my overall approach to how I listen/feel about the songs are much different than they would have been otherwise. Major props to Trent for taking it to a whole new level, I'm very impressed.

So it's been over two months since the release of YZ and I think we can say it is the best album of 2007. Too bad he didn't tout the States though.

I'm sure they'll make their way here either later in the year or early 08.

A guy behind handle AtomicWave has released a series of really swell nin covers at YouTube.
Actually his voice, looks and "stage act" mimic Reznor so closely it's prolly more fitting to call them tributes instead of covers.
Anyway, a very gifted young singer and high quality covers.
He has few perfectly okay own songs up too. Definately worth checking out.Your Prize has few amazing parts.
It's not that hard to imagine a situation where i end up buying this guy's record in half a decade or so, heh.

^ They're really good, I'd like to hear some older stuff from him though. Too much Zero Teeth. I wonder how he'd do with Spiral, Broken and PHM.

I think we should expect the next album in this concept to come in 08. Hopefully it'll all get a little clearer and, frankly, a little better.
