sorry i never commented about the jones beach show on june 17th. it was fucking awesome. trent is such a great frontman who is always so energetic, u could just feel the emotion coming out of him in his voice and body movements. the setlist was the same was richardnixon's show. it was SOOO COOOL hearing those fragile tracks "somewhat damaged" "la mer/into the void" and my personal favorite "the Big comedown" i was soo happy because The Fragile is my favorite NIN album and those are some of my many favorite songs off that record.

From reading these posts I'm kinda wishing I went to see NIN when they toured last year.
I only passed at the time because I was a bit tight for money, and I'd seen them tour previously for The Fragile (when Robin was in the band).

I'm glad they play songs from all their albums pretty evenly. The "Fragile" songs esp. are a little obscure, as those aren't as well known as songs from PHM, TDS, Broken, or the new songs.

So glad to hear "into the void" ok Much better than "Starfuckers inc." which is okay, but not great.

I'd rank their albums as follows:

The Fragile-epic, brilliant, a masterpiece.
With Teeth-More meat and potatos, more of a rock album.
And All that Could have been-One of the best live albums of all-time.
Still-Songs sound great stripped down. "And all that could have been" is one of my favorite NIN songs. The instrumentals are beautiful--esp. "adrift and at peace." NIN fans MUST get the "still" CD. Available at NIN.com
TDS-Classic, makes me wish I was dead.  hihi
Broken-Some classic Nails, needs to be remastered.
PHM-I like this a lot, but my least favorite. Needs a remastering.

The remixes are a mixed bag. Some good, some kind of suck.

so the remix albums aren't really worth it? i have everything else pretty much down to the Purest Feeling EP and Stilll.

i also agree with u on The Fragile, i think its immensely underrated and is amazing. The Downard Spiral is awesome in its own right but i always felt i could relate to The Fragile more and musically it is my favorite era, and i also love the "epic" feel.

Pretty Hate Machine is probably the best starter album for NIN. I would reccomend that album, With Teeth, or even Broken. The rest aren't as accessible. i mean, the first time i listened to The Downward Spiral i was scared shitless while thinking to myself, "what is this?Huh it sounds like nothing i've ever heard!"

as far as individual songs go, "Hurt" is what got me into Nine Inch Nails, i cried when i first heard that song.

I have The Downward Spiral, are all NIN albums pretty much like that or do they differ greatly?

haha, they differ ALOT!!! thats why i love NIN so much!!! Trent always changes musically.....

i love the downward spiral but i wouldnt call it a personal favorite, its just so...cold and mechanical(musically and lyrically)!! i know thats what trent was aiming at but DAMN!!? my favorite NIN album is The Fragile by far, an epic masterpiece.?

all of NIN took me a while to get into but The Downward Spiral and The Fragile took the longest. i am in love with the fragile now though. every time something shitty happens to me i make time to listen to the entire album during one sitting, what a journey!
