I've just heard 6 20-30 minutes clips from the new album and it was... uninspired. Fuck, NIN are one of my all time favourite bands, but Reznor seems to have lost his edge.

I'd like to join you in bashing songs we've heard whooping 20 secs each.
I refuse to listen the clips over and over and over again in some morbid "i'll foce myself to like these!!" -state of mind so all I have atm are rough 1st impressions, which hopefully are worth approx 2 sacks of shit..but....
Some of the stuff sounds so..generic that it is depressing.
Random noise by a random band, played by random radiostation.
Too may of those clips remind me of that there
moderner rock!!
group which name I never remember since it sounds exactly like 500 other bands in radio and doesn't have a single interesting element in their music.
I'm absolutely fucking horrified about the idea that in not that remote future, a day arrives when I have to listen to the title track.
There were 4 or 5 clips I really enjoyed though.Specially Beside You In Time.Sounds alot like Kid A by Radiohead.
At least for now, the CLIPS can be found at
http://www.neverland.co.nz/index.php?page=down
edit,
After liestening the clips over and over and over again in some morbid "i'll foce myself to like these!!" -state of mind I like most of them now.
Only,Hand-song and You Know What You Are still piss me off to bits though.

Since I've heard only three full songs and clips of the others, I don't jump into bashing the album, but... I still don't really like it. It sounds like, as you Decay said, a modern day rockband with some Fragile moments (sometimes I feel I could name the same song from that album) and a Pretty Hate Machine song (Only).
The line begins to blur is the best of the 3 I know, but the sound clip doesn't do the song's justice, so it gives me some hope that the other songs are much better than these clips. One can only hope.

i've heard the clips too and i'm not very impressed. The strongest so far to me is The Line Begins To Blur, but thats one of the two full ones i've heard. The clips are really too short to judge, also, NIN is the type of music that grows on you anyway. The bottom line is we really cant judge this until we hear the perfect quality full length versions on the album. By the way i have all the three albums, thanx for the reccomandations guys but i just couldnt choose. They're all great. Trent ALWAYS delivers, has the man every made a flat-out BAD album??? I don't see how this album will be different, Trent hasnt dissapointed us yet, y would he now?? I think this album will be great.

All the three? What about Broken, Fixed, Further Down The Spiral, Things Fallin' Apart, ...And All That Could Have Been, not to mention the singles where you can find a lot of gems. BTW Further and Broken are my 2nd and 3rd favourite NIN albums (1st is Downward).

The way you approach problems is admireable, young man.
Like Mr Mikkamakka said, you still need to give TR alot more of your hard earned money though.
Downward Spiral is my favourite album of all time and all other NiN albums are very much "up there" too. Yet, come to think of it, I have never instantly liked single new NiN album(excluding Still.) so my bad 1st impressions aren't so suprising here.

I'd be happy to hear some leaks since I'm not impressed with what I've heard so far. So I have to hear 2 or 3 full songs, or I won't buy this album.

just heard the full album
HAHAHAHAHAA .... it so freaking good.. after the deception that was for me the last Velvet Revolver and Slipknot album it feel real good to have something that exceed my expectation.
the last 2 piece of this album are epic.
On the lyric side i think it is clearly Trent best work ... Much more lyric oriented that "The fragile" (witch i didnt like much)? there is no instrumental here.
And the bridge on the title track "With Teeth" (witch is the song is the center of the cd ... so it right in the center of the album)? is unbelivable...
i suggest you to listen to Nine inch nails stuff with headphone.

Right where it belong
see the animal in his cage that you built
are you sure what side you're on
better not look him too closely in the eye
are you sure what side of the glass you are on
see the safety of the life you have built
everything where it belongs
feel the hollowness inside of your heart
and it's all right where it belongs
what if everything around you
isn't quite as it seems
what if all the world you think you know
is an elaborate dream
and if you look at your reflection
is that all you wanted to be
what if you could look right through the cracks
would you find yourself
find yourself afraid to see
what if all the world's inside of your head
just creations of your own
your devils and your gods all the living and the dead
and you're really all alone
you can live in this illusion
you can choose to believe
you keep looking but you can't find the woods
are you hiding in the trees
what if everything around you
isn't quite as it seems
what if all the world you used to know
is an elaborate dream
and if you look at your reflection
is that all you wanted to be
what if you could look right through the cracks
would you find yourself
find yourself afraid to see

I saw them live a couple of weeks ago in London.
Trent has assembled his best ever live band.
And the new material bloody rocks.
The new album will be a classic; just because it doesn't sound like other NIN albums it doesn't mean it's rubbish.
Trent likes to evolve and try different things whenever he goes in the studio, and I think he needs some respect for having the balls to do that.

When I heard The Hand That Feeds something happened to me, something that rarely ever happens to me when I hear a new song: I liked it and remembered it after it ended.

The Downward Spiral was the only album I actually liked by them, I don't know, I guess they're not my thing.
