Accordding to my very accurate scientific  calculations, about 50% of Nin fans view him as the only real live guitarist for the band, 25% are pissed Aaron Noth left, and 25% dont really care one way or another.
The Fuzz about his arrival was about 10 times more modest among Nin fans than fuzz of his departure was among GNR fans.

I personally just love to have him back in Nin. His guitarwork sounds about million times more fitting to Nin than Aaron's. Plus Finck is actually p+leasure to watch, unlike ADHD Aaron who thinks he's playing with Hanoi Rocks or something.
North isnt bad guitarist at all, hes just wayy wayy wayywayy wayy too !!!ROCK N' ROLL!!! for Nin.

review from Dr Tran at ETS re private show July 19, 2008 at the Forum:

A
999999
1000000
Letting You
Discipline
March of the pigs
Head down?
the frail
the wretched
closer
gaveup

B
the warning
great destroyer
ghosts
ghosts
piggy
ghosts
the greater good

C
pinion
wish
terrible lie
the big come down
survivalism
ghosts
only
the hand that feeds
head like a hole

D
echoplex
good soldier
beginning of the end
hurt

I think thats it

The stage.

In the back is a wall of rotating lights. 7 squares of 4x4 lights. This thing goes up and down.
Behind it is a large video screen.

There's also 2 video cages. A front cage that curves and a rear cage that curves so they make like an oval.
They both go up and down.
Between the cages were these dangling lights.

Highlights:

Section A had minimal light stuff.
Discipline was a bit of a disappointment. Guitar didn't sound right and Justin's vocals made me laugh.

Section B was the good stuff
Warning and great destroyer was everyone minus Freese in front of the front cage
When the cage came up for the ghosts stuff, Freese was in the middle.
Finck to his right with a flute, Justin with a big stand up bass to his left. Trent off to the right with a large xylophone, Alessandro to the far left.
Visuals on the Ghosts stuff were utterly amazing. Rain effects and lots of stuff I cant describe or remember properly.
Ukelele on Piggy
Greater Good had an effect that reminded me of that new Radiohead video.

Section C was very intense lighting.
Roadie came out and cleaned the screen with a flashlight before Pinion
Big Come Down had those dangling lights inside both cages.
Survivalism had video screens in the back. Top left had a crowd cam.
Only has a new intro.

Section D
Think of the beginning of the reheasal video for echoplex. Then think a lot bigger, or think of wheel of fortune.
I think it was on good soldier, Trent tries to sing and play tamborine and play xylophone at the same time. He said afterward he apologized for not practicing and having a silly look on his face.

pictures going up to flickr now, the bouncer guy gave me 2 warnings about no photography.
The Forum was the Venue, approx 1000 people there.

I only wish they played more WT songs....But I guess since three people of the lineup that recorded that are gone, we won't hear much of those..... Sad
I like how Trent pushes some crap songs from his last 2 albums. That's the way to make people listen to them, and download/buy those albums.....I admire his audacity on the matter. He could've just submitted to what most people want to hear at the shows. But it's not about those most people. It's about his art and how it will be remembered in history.......Hopefully the same will happen with CD when it comes out.

That's a very intereting and long motherfucker of a setlist. Cant wait to see them again..or atleast get hands on pile of bootloegs in case they wont come to Europe this time around. Wonder how close the surprise show's setlist is to "official" setlist of the tour. Surely they wont play 30 songs/night everywhere..

Shame about the lack of Fragile-era songs though.
Still-ish versions of some of em woul fit really nicely with Ghosts stuff.
Anyone seen bootleg of the L.A show yet?

my limited edition copy of The Slip arrived at my front door today  Cheesy   the artwork is off the wall, and the rehersal footage on DVD is amazing.    This is well worth the buy just to have it.    THE Album 0f 2008(so far).

I agree, the sound is so much crisper than the pitchfork videos and it's kick ass it actually own an official release with Robin on it.

I still haven't got mine yet! Even though some of my mates have already got it here in England. Sad

I can't really complain though... because I seemed to get the Ghosts UD LE Package earlier than most. Smiley

Would have been cool if 'lights in the sky' had been on the DVD, otherwise very cool.

Or some non-Slip songs as a bonus. 5 songs seemed a little short for a DVD.
