I have stayed out of threads like this cuz quite honestly I only know what I read, I am no insider nor a speculator. This said on another non music related board I came across a former employee of NIN that was talking about their new song. I would post the thread but its in a private area and I don't think the board would want a ton of new members that are not into the cars that everyone else is. So I will post the bits of the thread you might find interesting.
CudaCharlie writes....
Quote
My former employer is embarking on a long tour this summer... and the band is sounding pretty good these days. Here's a clip of them rehearsing with no staging or production. Full production rehearsals begin next week, and it's gonna be a seriously hi-tech affair with jumbotrons and all that stuff...
Git yer adrenaline UP!
http://www.pitchfork.tv/special-presentation/nine-inch-nails-live-from-rehearsals/1000000
BTW: Yes, that's Robin Finck (formerly of NIN, Cirque de Soleil, and Guns 'N Roses) back on guitar, and Josh Freese (tours with Devo, Vandals, and just about everybody else) on drums. The guy with the 'fro is Beck's old bass player.
To which others reply with what they think of the video/song/etc. Some ask about his former employer status.
Quote
What do you mean your former employer? You worked for Trent before?
... former keyboardist/programmer 1994-2001... Downward Spiral-The Fragile era.
So I figure, what the hell and I ask this.....
Quote
Did Robin quit GnR or is he just taking time off to tour with NIN?
He replied a day later with this.
Quote
OutsideGroove - I think Robin might have had enough of waiting for Chinese Democracy to come out, and a single can of Dr. Pepper just wasn't compelling enough of a reason to hang around Der Axl....
I kid, I kid! Robin's such a nice and friendly guy that he can jump ship and return without making enemies, so I wouldn't be surprised if he returns to GnR after the NIN stint is over. Stranger things have happened...
My buddy Leo is back with NIN as assistant tour manager, and he was asked to commit to 12-18 months of touring, so this might be a good, long, roundy-round-the-world tour. Rumor has it that South America and Asia are on the agenda, and I wouldn't be surprised if another album or two get recorded while on the road, given the portability of hi-tech recording gear these days. Plus, new sober Trent moves things along a lot quicker than in the old days. Remember, we spent five years making The Fragile! Fortunately for the fans (and the band members!) the days of five-year gaps between albums is probably over for good, now that TR doesn't have to deal with any record label nonsense....
So take it for what it is worth, just figured I would pass it along.
So basically this guy is presenting himself as Charlie Clouser?

I saw the pics but didn't notice the dreads.
Damn, the new NIN stuff is translating really well live so far. can't wait to see Discipline and Head Down come out. With Josh Freese and Robin in the band, this is easily the best NIN lineup in a long fucking time.

I had better luck today at the ticketmaster sale
, although their fees are just getting ridiculous....$17 fees for a $53 ticket, a 32% of the ticket value
I may have an extra pit ticket so before you go to ebay check with me.
Is anyone else from the gang going?

but it's a dry heat. Or is it? I just love when people from Arizona (for example) say that. 110 is 110, I don't care how dry it is.

thats nothing, in a month it will be 117.
its a dry heat yo
its only for a few months anyways, october and november are the best months weather wise. But I'm a desert rat so it doesn't really bother me.

i lived in Arizona too, Vegas is pretty much Arizona with casinos. but yea dry heat dude... on the east coast 90 degrees is miserable humid hell, here 90 is fucking sweet. The worst part about it is the sun. On the plus side, Vegas gets 4 inches of rain a year, doesn't get any snow in the winter and if you want to be in the snow its only a 45 min drive to the top of the mountain
Nights are great too, stay in during the day and go out at night and you will be fine.
On topic, I think the bass player is rockin with his puffy afro. I really love the end of Letting You when they are rockin out. 1000000 is still my favorite song from these clips.

Unfortunately, only for KROQ winners (which only allows local people to participate anyway
):
"Congratulations,
The enclosed pass will admit you and one guest to the first public showing of the Lights in the Sky tour. This unique guest list only event will take place on the afternoon July 19th in the LA area."
If anyone has an extra pass, I can trade a Pit ticket for the Inglewood show 2008-09-06 for it.

No, I am sure NIN getting a new live guitarist has made trendemnous difference in record and ticket sales alike.'
Arrival of legendary international superstar Robin Finck of massive NewGNR-fame has truly send explosion-like waves of earthquakes through Nin fan community, music industry and pop culture as a whole. Afterall, we are talking about a guy who ranks between Mcdonalds and Jesus, when it comes to recognizeability.
Hell, there are bussloads of people travelling from Finland to Brazil just to see Nin live. Most of them dont even know who this Trant Resner ( or whatever his name was?) guy is, they just want to witness the cultural event of the decade, the FAMOUS ROBIN FINCK playing Live.
So, short answer to your question,NO!!!!!
Before arrival of Finck Nin couldnt even get bar owners to let em play for " drinks on me" wages.
They dont even have a record deal yet havent you heard?

Dude, there's no need for that much sarcasm. Do you really have a reason to dis on Robin that much?
Back to the question. These are pre-sales for between 500 and 1000 tix. So, they sell out fast. But, yes, I think NIN will sell out their arenas, or most of them easily eventually.
It is my impression having been to several of their shows and knowing many hardcore fans that in the US NIN have had a bigger fan base than bands like GN'R and Metallica since like the mid 90s. Of course, worldwide, the picture is completely different. The truth is, most people who go to concerts in the US are high school or college students. And they find it much easier to relate to and enjoy (simpler) music such as NIN's.
