most unoriginal ...nah, that would be a7x
haha please....every a7X album actually does sound different and they take artistic risks all the time...not to mention the Syn Gates has more guitar playing ability in his pinky than Reznor has in his whole body...
I really don't see what the hype is about with the 'great' Synyster Gates: no deeper understanding of dynamics or melodic structure, no complex or original harmonic or rhythmic ideas, no earth shattering concepts like octave displacements, tri-tones or exotic interval selections. Average technique: very low effort to effect ratio, no speed unless he can compromise (very much) on articulation, pretty limited spectrum of chops.
He?s the epitome of a bad pattern/position player, of which for instance a guy like "our" Ron is the exact diametric opposite. A player who thinks in rigid musical concepts, borrowed from various styles of music/playing. He then just crams them into the music to make it seem like he?s versatile. It has more to do with building muscle memory than gaining musical insight. Instead of really adapting a style of playing and then exploring the edges of it, applying it more authentically. When you score as high like that on the wank-o-meter, you really aren?t the stuff what monster players are made of. It?s like striving to be a writer by learning the dictionary by hard, just makes no sense without the deeper understanding of it all. Pretty shallow. I?m sure he can do some fancy tricks Trent can?t, but tricks are for the circus. I rather hear some more modest low key playing when it's played with musical backbone, than fancy noodling coming from a wannabe-virtuoso who in essence doesn't know what he's doing.

my question is why did they have to bring Robin Finck back in the band? I think they have done a great job of writing, recording and releasing the EXACT same album over and over again since 1994 with or without him...
what the hell are u talking about? besides the fact that Robin had nothing to do with any of their main studio albums (hes on a couple remix albums), since Trent Reznor plays pretty much all the instruments on these records, every album has been COMPLETELY different.
you missed the joke...im saying NIN is the most unoriginal band I have ever heard in my life...every record sounds exactly the same..they never switch things up or take any artistic risks....so why would they NEED RObin Finck if all they do is keep putting out "The Fragile" but call it "With Teeth" or "year zero"
Ignorant. No other word can describe you. Listening to shitty music damaged your brain.

Somehow I doubt Tool would even want a fan of a shitty Emo/Nu-Metal band like Avenged Sevenfold at their show

Uh..Metallica haven't had a decent album since what, 1991?
Tool is composed of 4 of the most highly regarded and respected musicians out there today.
Are you highly regarded?
Maybe by Senator Larry Craig..

So... what do you guys expect for this new tour?
I am hoping for more Fragile stuff, more instrumentals and a more electronic sound than last tours that were very guitar/bass/drum oriented. Trent will be 43 in May but him and his voice look in good shape to keep the heavy songs on the setlist.
The new guy Rich is very energetic, looks a lot like Aaron, I'm sure he will bring good things to the band.
So a dream (realistic) setlist for fun:
1. Hyperpower
2. Last
3. Somewhat Damaged
4. Heresy
5. Eraser
6. La Mer
7. The Great Below
8. And all that could have been
----
Instrumental jam consisting of Ghosts themes and songs from the past, including Leaving Hope
----
10. The Becoming (still version)
11. Just like you imagined
12. The line begins to blur
13. Right where it belongs
14. In This Twilight
15. Happiness in Slavery (Robin screams!)
No Closer, No Hurt, No Head like a hole. Happiness in Slavery and And all that could have been are unlikely, but can happen, can't say the same about The Perfect Drug though.
Maybe Trent will release some soundboard recordings, something he already said he wanted to do as soon as he was label-free.

Well... Yes and no. Through mainstream media outlets, you're spot on. I tend to go on Amazon reviews myself.

Very impressive fan made video of In this twilight.
Whoever put this up has managed to combine scenes from several different (mostly crappy) apocalyptic flicks into one very functional unity. It's powerfull stuff and syncs very well with the lyrics.
