Well anyone but Freddie winning that wouldn't have been correct, Axls a great front man but in terms of stage presence, crowd communication and vocal ability Freddie is miles ahead of anyone else.

You can disagree if you want, but for me, Axl is the best rock n' roll frontman. I don't consider Queen to be an out and out rock band like GN'R or AC/DC or Aerosmith.

That's fair enough really. It's so hard to rank them but he is up there with the best. I do agree that Freddie isn't really a rock n' roll frontman but his skill is unquestionable.
Just out of interest where did Plant, Morrisson, Jagger etc. all come. Kerrang's lists are usually very poor.

I think Freddie Mercury is a wonderfully, energetic and charming frontman. Axl was never really a charming rock n' roll frontman - HE IS A BAD-ASS FRONTMAN! Axl being #2 to Freddie Mercury is really like just saying Axl is #1. Freddie sort of transcends these lists and is his own... thing. Axl is my favorite singer and GN'R is my favorite band, but Freddie Mercury is the definitive frontman. Fuck Robert Plant. Sabbath was more influential and Queen more accomplished. Anyway, being behind Freddie isn't really being behind. You can't beat him. Axl beat everyone else on the list, obviously he can't beat Freddie. No one should. Kurt Cobain should be #1 on the worst frontmen of all time list. He was a shit singer. Shit lyricist. Shit guitarist. Shit person junkie asshole who blew his goddamn pussy brains out and if he didn't he'd be as washed up today as the rest of the shit grunge scene (except Eddie Vedder, he's cool).
