I figured it wouldn't take long considering the better person betting has nothing to lose 

It's really just a guess based on the mixing process and the "8 weeks" thing. And I'm pretty sure the record company does the mastering, which means that happens within the 8 weeks. So I think some members are miscalculating and are being overly pessimistic... which is toally understadable at this point.

These companies, ie HMV etc, put these dates on so that people will come back and check them again and again and content themselves with buying something else in the meantime, simple marketing really! Jarmo's right to delete such misleading threads.
