I am interested in your favs and least favs in this category.

I am only wanting to hear about acts when GNR were big....so Bob and his band 1986 at a coffee house can't count.

This is a time passer and hopefully it wasn't discussed before.

Best opener:

Faith No More - Getting this band at the apex of their career - writing better shit than the Beatles ever did in my opinion...FNM should have been headlining their own shows at this point to humongous audiences.

Worst opener:

The Brian May Band:

I was counting the minutes till the end.  Bored to death in the set.

No disrespect to Brian May's other accomplishments.

Best opener was without a doubt Soundgarden.

Saw the Smashing Pumpkins in April 1992 before ANYONE knew who they were, needless to say, they were terrible then.

It's not even up for debate.  Soundgarden was by far the best opening act GNR has ever had.  The worst opening act must be that Eagle shit band Axl threw off the tour after 1 show last year.

Faith no More Sucks.  A lot.  Of Dick.  and they like it.

But anyway, Sebastion Bach Ruled.  I hesitate to say he was better than GnR, but that was in Baltimore and it wasnt a good crowd.  So if i were Axl, i wouldnt have wanted to be there either.  I was embarrassed (is that spelled right?) to be part of that crowd.

The worst was Bullet for my valentine.  They sucked, but not as much as Faith no More in general.

I gotta think about this:

Saw the following bands open/play with them:

Skid Row (circa 1991 opening at Alpine Valley) - Kicked all forms of ass
Faith No More/Metallica - sorry to the above poster  Fath No More sucked always have sucked and always will suck.  Fuck Mike Patton
Body Count/Metallica  - Beat the ever loving hell out of the Faith No More/Metallica/GNR triple header
Brian May Band - Love Queen, respect Brian May, hated the Brian May Band
CKY/Mix Master Mike - CKY grew on me after the third show I saw them open, Mix Master Mike not so much
Bullet For My Valentine - Worst band I have ever seen in my 20+ years of attending concerts.  No talent there at all  Shakerleg was more talented the night he played
Suicide Girls/Sebastian/Helmet/some unknown band from St. Louis - stick to Baz and the Suicide girls please.  Helmet has their place and it's not at a GNR show.

In summary, Skid Row in their prime was a great act, Metallica good too.

Foolish.  no

I'm confounded by the fact that someone can like the new GNR, which has featured very experimental artists such as Buckethead and BBF, yet thinks FNM sucks.

Then again, it took me a while to get into FNM.  I never thought The Real Thing was all that great, but Angel Dust blew me away.

I like Faith No More, but all they did was complain about everything GNR did, stood for-I'm sure they had no problem cashing the checks from the stadium shows-that makes them the worst to me
