I'm glad someone brought up Jerry Cantrell-Degradation Trip Volumes 1&2. Better than AIC, IMHO. A great body of work.

Yeah I have told alot of people how good that album is so they pick it up but not many have listened. I've played it in my car for friends and they bought it immediately. It's really an amazing collection of songs. Not a track I would say is even mediocre or average, they're all great.

Awesome album, glad to see a few mentions of it here. ok

Other great albums I'd add to my list from that era are:

Foo Fighters - Color And The Shape
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the deaf

lol you're pretty cool yourself! good taste in music man.

its interesting, the NIN fanbase is pretty divided on The Fragile. an overwhelming majority will agree that it is a solid album, but others feel that it is overrated since so many NIN fans are obsessed with it and not only think its the best NIN album, but one of the best albums ever.

i am one of those people,it is my personal favorite NIN album, (although i think TDS is his best work overall, but its close). i think The Fragile and TDS are easily some of the best albums of all time.

lol yeah we do have similar tastes.

although i like the Beekeeper, i need to listen to it more to make a judgement. also, i forgot that Tori's From The Choirgirl Hotel came out in 1998 so it would be eligible. i'd add that to the list too because i am obsessed with it.

and D, The Fragile takes time to get it into, just like The Downward Spiral, both took me a while a decent amount of time to sink in, while the rest of the NIN albums didnt. but surprisingly enough TDS and The Fragile are my favorites.

i know Trent labored over The Fragile for a long time, and i think it shows. the only song i'm not too fond of is Starfuckers and even that is listenable.

The Beekeeper sucks.

And while I love the fragile, year zero is a better album, imho.

These albums were disqualified under the logic that "nu-metal" and "best" are contradictory terms.

BTW, why are there so many Tori Amos fans, here?  Is there some connection of which I'm unaware?

I forgot that Choirgirl came out in 1998. Well ,then definietley it's the album of the decade. Along with Dream Theater's Scenes From a Memory which I forgot to mention, too.
