^ I believe early on in the Get in the Ring tour, if I'm not mistaken. 'It's So Easy' has also been an opener.

also nighttrain in the early early days.

They also opened with Perfect Crime, Right Next Door To Hell, You Could Be Mine, Mr. Brownstone, Out Ta Get Me..

YCBM? Really? Doesn't seem like an opening song to me. Great second or third song...long intro to give the vocalist a break. Even though it's in my top three favorite Guns songs, I don't know if I'd like to see it open a show. I saw Aerosmith open a show a few years ago with 'Walk This Way' and, in the same light, just didn't seem right to me.

What shows did GN'R open with YCBM?

I think that might be an error. I can't remember any show they opened with You Could Be Mine or Out Ta Get Me for that matter.

I agree.  I don't know of any shows that were opened with You Could Be Mine.  Some of the shows opened with Jungle though.  One of the shows I saw - in Hampton VA - they opened with the first 5 songs off Appetite in order.

GN'R opened with ''You Could Be Mine'' in July 11th, 1991, at the McNichols Sports Arena, Denver, Colorado

Yes they did open with YCBM. I just listened to that show (see estebanf's post above) the other day, and I think it works pretty well actually. Great show overall.
And during the Gn'R-Metallica -tour, they opened with Out Ta Get Me several times. And if you can't believe THAT, I can tell you they have opened with Coma too ok

I think that this time they'll be opening with "Welcome To The Jungle". OK!

I think that this time they'll be opening with "Welcome To The Jungle". OK!

Very possible. But they should make some changes in the 3-5 first songs. For example, from UYI-tour:

1. Welcome to the Jungle
2. Garden Of Eden
3. It's so Easy

or:

1. Welcome to the Jungle
2. Nightrain
3. Live and Let Die
4. The Garden

or:

1. It's So Easy
2. Mr. Brownstone
3. Nice Boys

or:

1. Pretty Tied Up
2. Mr. Brownstone
3. Bad Obsession
4. Perfect Crime
5. Dust N' Bones

or:

1. Welcome to the Jungle
2. Mr. Brownstone
3. My Michelle
4. Live and Let Die

And I don't mean they should play these songs, but one reason why love the UYI-tour shows is that they had so much variety. The first three examples are from shows that were held in the same month. Even little changes are welcome..

CD would be a great opener, it has that 'suspense' thing going.. only thing is, most of the people going to the show haven't heard it so it won't (I think) cause a reaction like WTTJ does.. yet anyway.

^^that's a good point.  It would work better if the album were out already, then people would be somewhat familiar with the new songs.  tha may happen, that may not.......i'm betting on not, at least not for the beginning of the tour.

It's perfect as the encore.

99% of the audience just want to hear the old stuff. It wouldn't make sense not to open with Jungle at this point.

Well if you look at the illusions tour, there were few different songs that opened certain shows. For ex: Right Next Door To Hell. Jungle's 95% of the time been the opener, but I think if they opened with C.D., it would be a shock at first, something nobody was expecting, but I think the fans would get used to it. For example, say the album drops in Sep., then tour behind the actual album for saaaay a year, C.D. should be the opener at least for the tour that eventually backs the album. Then after C.D. opens the show, do Jungle, without "You know where the fuck you are" intro, only because that obviously works better if the song opened the show.

Yeah why not. So it's a new song. Velvet Revolver are doing the same with Let it Roll. Not always the same opener. Welcome to the jungle is a really good choice to open with, but there a more good openers.

cd basically was used as an opener most of the last tour, the opener of the encore.

it would work perfect to start the show

yeah thats a very good point a lot of people are not going to know about the new band and new songs (even now) so they will probably be opening with an old song for a while, it would make a good encore as its a second chance to have an intro like that

i think alot more people know there's a new band then you realize.  especially since VR has been pretty visible.  granted not alot of people know who the new band members are, but they realize it's not gnr circa 1987.  they've heard of the fabled chinese democracy for awhile, they want to hear new music.  they want to hear the old favorites, no doubt, but i think even casual fans expect something new.

i say move on.....it's a new era, they should open with a new song.  something that belongsjungle definitely has a key spot on the set list, but i think it's time to retire it as opener. yes

The show was 06.04.1991 Richfield Coliseum, Richfield, OH. And yes, there's a boot too. Incomplete though Undecided

I disagree. With no new album out, It make makes perfect sense to open with it. This is like a greatest hits tour or something, so it works perfect.

If they opened the show with Coma every die hard in the arena would flip a shit. That would be like the worth the price of the ticket alone.

But to stay on topic with the first post, CD would be a badass opener. If they really nail it like it sounds on the demo.
