I have no clue what "Even with an iron fist" means. but its a version of the meaning i guess.

He's talking about the Chinese government, who have been known to rule with an "iron fist", in other words they're not very nice. "Even with your iron fist, it's all that you've got to rule / fool the nation".  This song is not about the ex-Gunners.

I like it RKD, but I prefer the cover in Nesquick's post. What I do like about yours the simple outline of Axl - fits in with his illusive personality, as if he's there but not.

Ultimately, without hearing the album its difficult to know what cover fits the best - try submitting it to Merck and see what happens!

I never understood his Falun Gong reference. I know its some strange chinese movement, but I dont know why he uses the reference. Maybe since everyone always throws blame around for why we dont have CD, Axl decided since the album has china in the name, we might as well blame it on the Falun Gong. Actually, the lyrics go:

"I've seen the end and I can't move on...now"

The song is about struggling to move on in the duality of the individual and / vs. the collective, to part or to unite, risk versus reward. The lyrics are from a "watching the watchers" point of view, regarding the two key factors that dominate a society - the leader and the followers. Can be related to the chinese situation, the music industry or the band / the fans.

Now that brief summary could be nothing but bullshit since it's only my interpretation of the lyrics. But at least I made up my mind...

Your understanding of Falun Gong is wrong. It's not a person, it's some sort of philosophy. Ever heard of Qui Gong meditation? There you go! Falun Gong has a huge following in China. People who practise the meditation in public are put to jail, since the goverment declared it the evil because it takes people's minds and attention away from communism and lets them focus.

I thought of that while i listened to "Chinese Democracy" from the Boston 02 soundboard.

and listening to the lyrics:

I thought maybe he was having a go at the Ex-Gunners. Like it'd take a lot more than the hate he has for them, to stop his fascination (The Album). Our Baby got to rule the nation (Chinese Democracy is the Baby), but all i got is precious time (well time). I have no clue what "Even with an iron fist" means. but its a version of the meaning i guess.

It's not "our baby got to rule the nation".... that sounds sooo gay!

as Axl says; it was the film 'Kundun' that got him thinking about it an inspired the song, and that film is all about the chinese government invading tibet and focing the exile of the dali llama.

i really don't think this one is about slash and duff et al............ some people are gunna think all the songs on CD are about the old band!
