Drinking Alone?

Do you guys think it is bad to drink alone? Some of my friends think I'm an alcoholic or feel bad for me when I drink alone. Now, yes, I'm aware that I sometimes drink alone, but I also drink socially...way more than I do alone.

Also, I don't drink alone EVERYDAY. And when I do, I drink craft beer (in fact, I homebrew)...so it's not like I'm your typical drunk drinking Bud every night.

So what is your take on drinking alone. Is it bad that I do it. I really enjoy it by the way (not being alone, but drinking).

I drink alone more than I drink socially. It clears my head after a hard day's work and helps me organize my thoughts. I don't see anything wrong with it. My friends do think it is weird, but I don't give a fuck.

.after a hard day it just is better to sit back alone with a cold beer or some Jack and coke.SO for the most part I don't think it's bad to drink alone.

Yeah, I do it too, nothing beats after a hard day work to sit back and have a cold beer.

If I'm stressed out it beats drinking with people any time.

^^are you saying most GNR fans are drunks?  Or are the type of people to drink alone?

I also asked the Pearl Jam forum, and I can tell you for a FACT that the PJ fans are not like GNR fans.  Most of them are white collared liberals, whereas I believe GNR fans tend to be the opposite.

I'm neither, as I'm a college student (but not liberal!)

because beer is soooo good; especially quality beer.  If some of you ppl like beer, I suggest taking up homebrewing.  It's a fun, cheap way to drink GOOD beer.

plus you'll always have beer on tap to drink alone.

I also don't see a problem there. I use to drink a beer or wine in the evening when I relax, sitting down, reading a book. That doesn't make you an alcoholic.

It's something different if you can't relax without alcohol. Then I guess you have a serious problem. If that's not the case - then nothing to worry about.

i drink by myself all the time.. just chill at home and drink and clear my head by drowning it w/ alcohol.. good times

I don't like people, in general, so I started drinking alone in my teens. People used to give me a hard time about it then, but now, it seems like I was on to something then. I like people even less now, and when I drink by myself I can tell myself this all I want.

It tends to be rather lonely, but no more than getting high alone

I don't see that there's a problem unless alcohol cotrols the one drinking and not the other way around, for an example if you got your fridge full of beer you'll have to drink a lot even if you got to go to work the next day.

I dont know, I mean, I cant imagine myself drinking alone... but if you do it alone or with friends it doesnt matter: what really matters is how often you do it, what you drink, and how much you drink.

I think that some Jack Daniels after a very long day of work, or after spending several hours studying or something like that is not only not bad: I would also reccomend it.

But if drinking alone turns to you into a physical need, if you cant go to sleep without drinking something, or if you spend all your day imagining and waiting for that drink, then it could be very dangerous.

I think the key is drinking responsibly.   

Where's the fun in that? Surely, the moment that you decide to ingest a consciousness-altering substance for shits and giggles the whole concept of responsibility has left the building? In which case you might as well try to set some records.
