Must be hard for people who know and work with the band to see such verbal bashings on forums like this.? sad really

Yea Its also hard for people who take time off work, spending what little money they have on flights and hotels, only to have the whole things cancelled at short notice.

great post roadie, it's a shame how so many of these so-called fans take every oppertunity to bash the band, they should be ashamed of themselves.
i suspect they are overly critical towards the band because slash isn't there. how pathetic. i just wish these losers would leave guns n' roses alone.
it's a shame to see such a good band have so many hypocritical, backstabbing and disloyal fans.

Couldnt of said it better myself,

I literally spent 2 weeks wages on the 2 tickets for myself alone,
and now I have to pay my borrower back for the accomodation/air fairs etc,

So Im glad gnr are still coming down, because people who say stuff like:

Obviously have one of 2 things:
1. Money isnt an object,
2. They dont pay for the tickets, there parents do , and/or they never get the chance to see gnr, to realize how expensive it is to make your dreams come true, only to potentially have a nightmare of a unexpected cancellation at a seconds notice.

I'm sorry, but I don't see Slash having anything to do with this argument at all. Roll Eyes

If there are legit reasons for cancelled shows, then what's so wrong with letting your fans know the ful story? So like others have mentioned, money isn't wasted on flights and hotel bookings needlessly.

Anyway, I'm not gonna harp on about it, because many others have said the same thing.

I hope Tommy gets better and heals in time, if not, I hope GN'R let us know in enough time too. beer

I love guns n roses, dont get me wrong, but they dont care or respect their fans. Thats just the way it is.

Some of my mates were furious they had to wait 4 hours for guns n roses to take the stage, about 2.5 hours after the support band left!!!

Some people heckled Axl as he played his piano solo and axl shouted "if you dont like it, then f*ck off home".

The problem was my mate explained, that the band took so long to take the stage that all the last trains and buses and had long since left.

Maybe gnr do have the power and control over their fans to treat us like crap and watch us still take it... but there comes a point where enough is enough.

Funny, the band always did that. It's something your friends should have known before going to a GNR concert.

Also, if the Australian tour will still happen, why they have "no care" for the fans?

I think it's funny how a lot of people seems to forget about the canceled dates last year. They gave explanation in every single show, didn't they? But nooooo, this time it MUST be because they want to screw up everything with the fans. Roll Eyes

Well said, VodooChild.

And I don't think for a second that Axl or the band WANTS to upset their fanbase. But shit happens. If we just get information in time, all is well.

all of the threads that this could have been posted in were locked, so -

why hasnt there been an official announcement about the cancellation of the s africa shows? gunsnroses.com still says they are playing there. is it not official yet? is there a chance they could still play? i mean, one would think that they would make every effort to notify the fans that they aren't going to be there anymore, especially since they were a headlining act and all.

i havent been paying that close attention to this issue so i dont know what the details are. but it seems to me that all the official sources (gunsnroses.com and the front page of this website) still have the show going on as scheduled.

unless, of course, they know that we have come to expect these kinds of cancellations, and don't feel a need to bother notifying us...

Yeah they definitely need to post official confirmation from the band because there is alot of confusion right now.. Hopefully that will come soon closer to the respective dates that are/aren't going ahead due to the contradicting promoter reports.. official clarification from the band would be very good.. we will have to see..

exactly . the longer this goes on, the more confusion/anger will occur. fans and promoters have no idea what is going on. no promoter will ever touch the band again and fans wont buy tix b/c they think it wont happen. my view is if the shows were going on, the band would have immediately come out and said they are happening to end the confusion. to me, if the band continues to say nothing, it means whatever is out there (all shows off) is correct...oh and on the official site as of monday night....let me quote so there is NO confusion..."Guns N' Roses have announced that they are postponing the start of their world tour, in Japan, but will honor the two MyCoke festival dates in South Africa at the end of the month."

That's true...but maybe the band hasn't straightened it out with all the promoters yet. Likely some shows will be off but others may stay. They can't really inform us every step of the way of every development on negotiations with promoters, band members health issues, label negotiations, etc.
It is unfortunate what has happened....both to the fans and to the band. But there isn't really much to be done but wait a little longer for the clarification.

But I agree, once the sitaution is straightened out, the fans should be informed by the band at the same time the band informs the promoters....
