Ok. I am not a hater, right? so please be patient with my letter before calling me "Axl hater" or "not a real fan".

I've been supporting this band through the years. The first album I bought was "Apetite" in year 1988 (one year later, I know  Grin). I am 34 years old and I can say its been the band of my life an Axl a true and important inspiration in my life.
I have bought all the records, several times in several formats. I know how to play with my guitar all the songs, that by the way is an Epiphone Les Paul. I can sing by memory every single lyric from all commercially or not relesed songs GNR has delivered through time. I Have t-shirts, posters, books, awfull records recorded by others to try to gain some money throgh the gnr name... I've seen thme live 3 times. Sevilla 1992, Madrid 1993, Madrid (2006).

But...

I am tired... and I think Axl is.

Obviously Axl has grown up trough the years, and he is not that young badass destroyer that ate the scenary every single night, but when I saw him live in year 2006... he was bored (his gestures, his way of acting...). The concert was great, the band was incredible, even better than the band I saw in 1992... but Axl seemed to me autocomplacent (does this word even exists?...sorry for my bad English) ... and bored. Like an old rockstar that makes all of this only for the "party" and "the chicks" after the concert but not for the concert itself... like... "I am bored...let's go on tour"....
or maybe like
"Oh my god... getting this fuckin' record done is the fucking hardest thing I have done in my whole fuckin life!.. I am tired of it."

Other thinks that concerns me is the "illness" of Bucket in the past and "Tommy" right now. It is too much casualty to be true. Sorry to feel this way, but its just the way I feel. Maybe they are lying to us because (assuming they are) the true is to hard to be told like "the Chiefs has listened to the final Mix of the record" and they did not liked a goddam thing. Because to be true to my feelings "Better", "TWAT" and maybe "The Blues" are good songs that, but the rest of the leaks I have listened are IN MY OPINION very low quality compared to what this band has done in the past.

I think the problem is not in tommys wrist (ok, I know I am speculating) the problem is somehow in the record, or in the company... GOD, they replaced Izzy in the past, they replaced, Brain, they replaced Steven...and they did go on... Why not now? Does not sound coherent to me.

Something fishy is going on...or maybe is just me... that's why I wanted to know..

Does anybody feel this way?  Grin

(And please, if you dont Agree with me, we can always talk about it, but I am not trying to flame here... I only want to know if there is anybody out there who feels like me... no punch intended, really).  yes beer

I think the songs we have heard are very strong, I dont think the guys at the office can say they dont like it because we all know that the most people who have heard the new material thinks its awesome!! So I dont agree with you there.

And I know that there is some people who doesnt like a few songs, But I were one of those regarding the song Chinese Democracy but like a month ago I suddenly somehow (7secs) changed by opinion about that song, it was fucking awesome, so I know this album will be great!! Most people do.

Firstly, I'm drunk as a fuck so don't get it too serious. Secondly, there's obviously something that is going on in the GN'R camp. Thirdly, I hope it's for good. And finally, vernset, I hope I'm wrong but there's no way GN'R to be as big as they were in the past. Well there is, but, ....you know... Tongue

It's a good post and I hope you don't get flamed. A person should be able to  voice his honest opinion, even doubt, about  the band  without being labeled  a hater.

I agree with you to point. In 2002, Axl seemed to be  going through the motions. It was pathetic. But 2006 was different. I did not see them because they didn't  come to my city, but I  have  the DVDs and it seems that  he was into  the shows. So this present situation  (cancellation) is curious. Maybe  it is some kind of power  play between Axl and management, maybe  it is  due to the injury to Tommy, or maybe  other reasons, who really knows. But  I don't think that Axl would  stick his neck out and  say the  album is coming out if he were not committed to its  release and subsequent tour to support it. So, I don't think he is burned  out or bored. At the same time, on any given night, a band  can have an off  night, and they do the same set  list night after night. I have had hundreds of conversations with my friends about how hard it would  be to have that  job and appear "into it" night after night of the same  songs, year after year, show after show.

i am also 34 and been there from the start and if you cut me down the middle it would have GN'R all the way through just like a stick of rock. i agree with some of what youre saying but to say axl is bored or looks bored in very untrue in my opinion, ive seen them in 91, 02 and 06 and axl has always given a great performance, he doesnt move as much as he used to ill give you that but he still fucking rocks. i also agree that the new stuff doesnt compare to the old but you must remeber that rock music has changed over the last few years, music that sold in the 80s and 90s wouldnt really sell as many in recent years, appetite still flies off the shelves but the whole rock scene has changed and axl has changed with it. its still a very unique sound but its more up to date..it would be interesting to have the new guys re-record appetite in the current style and then compare.

i see where your coming from, and your getting tired of waiting just like the rest of us, its quite easy to see the negatives when your pissed off and feeling shitty, especially been a fan sice time began.......things will change and it will all be rosey again soon  Wink

You have some good points but Axl did not seem bored during the 2006. Heck, of all the bootlegs I've seen he delivers an amazing performance in EVERY SINGLE SONG, really pouring his heart into it. Oh wait, I'm gonna have to exclude Better from Download on that list...

But he seems very passionate about his work, still. And even though he is 45, there is no younger frontman that can command the stage like he can, and with such energy.
