I completely forgot about this band and they just released a new album "Young Modern". I must say I'm impressed, it's a beautiful album, a "happy" album... I don't know, many songs just make me happy and optimistic. It's the kind of album I enjoy, it's complex, it's anti pop, it's overproduced, it's hard to say it's the same band who made "Freak" or "Anthem for the Year 2000".

My fav track is Those Thieving Birds.

2nd best album released this year so far, IMO.

Silverchair have turned into Coldplay on their new album, which I suppose is ok if you like Coldplay, but not if you like Silverchair... hihi

What happpened to the great riffs they used to write?
I agree, they have yet to top Frogstomp.

I liked Neon Ballroom and Frogstomp. Not a fan of Freak Show.

Having listened to Young Modern a good number of times now, I have to say that I'm very pleasantly surprised.  I thought Diorama was a great album, and - to be honest - thought Young Modern was really pushing the limits.   It also got a great review from David Fricke in the new Rolling Stone, which I wasn't expecting at all.  Very different, but certainly worth a listen.

I heard Straight Lines on one of those MaxTrax television stations... but I thought there was an error when they listed Silverchair as the artist under the details... Very unexpected sound, particularly the vocals!

Indeed it is.  Like I said, it really took me a while to adjust, but I like it.  "Waiting All Day" and "Straight Lines" are current favorites...
