The 1960s:
The Beatles

The 1970s:
Led Zeppelin

The 1980s:
Van Halen

The 1990s:
Guns N' Roses

The 2000s
The White Stripes

Never heard of any of those except for BC, and no way are they better than VR!

Don't worry you're not the only one...
I second that, in no way shape or form is Buckcherry anywhere close to being a better band than VR, that goes for most(i haven't heard them all) of the other bands MrLee mentioned imo.

What does it say when you have bands like The Beatles, the Stones, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, GNR etc for the 20th century and then the 00s we have people suggesting bands that a few people haven't heard of (I've heard of those bands BTW? Wink)?

Sad Since this is not in poll form , I'll make my own nominees:

1960's - The Beatles........they changed everything about music , at their time. Classic , take them over the Stones any day of the week.

Honorable Mention: since......... The Doors....... were in the 60s and 70s , I want to put them here.
They were the "Guns N' Roses" of their time.Their music was ahead of their time , doing their own thing , with no rules or expectations.Jim died too soon Sad

1970s - Led Zeppelin..........I'm not the biggest of fans , but I have to give them their due.
Everybody dug em , they were it in the 70s.

Honorable Mention: ...........Black Sabbath.......were that group that blew people away , Iron Man and Paranoid , are still 2 of the most popular songs of all time , most every band plays them as some of the first songs they play. Aerosmith was up there too

1980s - Motley Crue...........Van Halen fans , won't like this , but these guys were the definition of rock in the 80s , they were the stars of life , and everybody couldn't get enough.they were at their peak in 1989 , after capturing the rock world in 1983.

Honorable Mention:............That's Right........Guns N' Roses.............Axl and company hit fast and hard , they blew everyone away , and made a lot of fans during their tour with the Crue. They were fresh and welcomed by rockers everywhere and still have one of the largest fan bases in all of rock.

1990's - Guns N' Roses..........They held their ground when a lot of the 80s groups could not , people tried to bury them early to make room for grungeamatic , but they couldn't.
They wouldn't go away. sorry Nirvana , your 3 albums weren't enough , and everyone said Kurt Cobain was the new face of rock , now their are people who don't even know who he was.......... no

Honorable Mention............Pearl Jam...............Personally , I can't stand this group , but I will give them credit , they are a knat that just won't go away.Very popular with a lot of people.I do like "Daughter" , I will admit that , too!

2000's - This is the hardest , because no one has really reached out and yanked this title for me , yet. VR , is a possibility , we will have to see how Libertad turns out.
Nickelback is really dieing fast , their last 2 albums were not that good , IMO.
To be honest , I have not heard enough groups from this decade , so I'll say VR with a strong Libertad!

Honorable Mention: Hinder makes 2 more good albums in this decade...Watch out! Technically , I have no mention yet.

In order to make this list a sensible one I have been liberal with regards to which decade each band should belong to. GNR's best record and top hype period was definitely ultimo 80's, so I have put them there. COF's best records, IMO, are from this decade. NIN was a product of the 90's just as GNR was the 80's but they are still very relevant so I put them in 00 as well. And so on.

60s: The Beatles.      Runners-up: The Rolling Stones
70s: Led Zeppelin.    Runners-up: Pink Floyd
80s: Guns N' Roses.  Runners-up: Iron Maiden
90s: Pearl Jam.         Runners-up: Nirvana
00s: Nine Inch Nails. Runners-up: Cradle of Filth

Some decades, you can name dozens of bands and still feel you do injustice by not mentioning a band. I am glad it is that way though.

The 1960s:
Jimi Hendrix

The 1970s:
Led Zeppelin

The 1980s:
U2

The 1990s:
Guns N' Roses

The 2000s:
The White Stripes

Pretty terrible list of choices in most decades dude!  No Pink Floyd?  Couldn't find one really good act in the 2000s but then there's probably no good choices in reality.

60's
The Beatles

70s
Would belong to Zeppelin
If...they didn't rip off the ton of songs they did from other musicians.

So I guess the Stones or Sabbath (with Ozzy)

80s/early 90's
Metallica/GNR

2000's so far
NIN (by far)
