That is possible, he did say something along the lines of them touring for a few months, going back, touring again for a few months, and that this will continue for at least a couple of years. Can anyone dig up the actual quote? Cool

I didn't know that this was said.

I'd be curious to read it also.

Um, I just posted it right before your post. Huh

20-25 shows in UK and Europe
20-25 shows in the us

Aren't we forgetting Canada, where most, if not all the shows were sold out?

I'm thinking it will go through early 09' easy.

Definitely could happen--if CD is out. Touring for another two years on the same material seems a bit of a stretch.

Personally I always thought of Axl/GnR along the lines of Billy Joel. That is, he could never release another album and tour off his old material until the end of time and do just fine.

Axl is pulling material basically from 3 albums though. Billy Joel has dozens to draw from. Basically, the set list would remain the same unless he decides to add Illusions stuff. If he wants to tour a while, fine, that's great. But eventually a new CD has to be released to sustain the momentum.

To me, it is irrelevant how many albums he had prior. My point is that I feel that his (their) material is strong enough, that he could (hypothetically) tour on that alone for years (In fact he already has really.)

I have to say that I agree with you "SLCPUNK"!

This new material is strong enough!

I hope they don't tour long if there is no album out.

If they are planning on a major tour covering the world.. something needs to come out at some point, preferrably sooner the better.. especially someplace like Australia where i am.. the news of the shows has been met with glee because general fans think it is the original lineup doing a reunion tour.. apart from a paragraph or two on ticketek's website, people don't know it's a completely new band.. and on top of that.. alot of people, especially ones who i have spoken to, think they are touring because the album has come out.. i'm not quite sure what the response is going to be.. especially since australian press haven't given out much information about the status of the band and the album.. as i said there are little tidbits here and there.. but the average GNR fan, or even old GNR fan might not know this..

Not that i give a shit, I have complete faith as i have said before, that they will be blown away from the show.. but you'd be amazing the comments i've got from people when talking about the GNR shows..

Remember also this is Australia here.. other side of the world.. unless they are into the internet and forums like this, people don't even realise GNR still exist, original band or not

I agree there has been significant touring since early 2000.. but at this point, people are slowly being to grasp on the identity of the new band, having heard the new songs, demo leaks on radio etc.. and they are heading out on a bigger world tour.. for christ's sake they're coming to australia now.. they're taking big steps.. i hope at this point.. or at least in the near future before this part of the tour gets too far in.. that we will start to see some steps towards the album.. but i just take it as it comes. hope you understand where im getting at.

I hope there are at least 50 shows before anything bad might happen...You can decide what that might be!

Has there been any rumor as to when they are scheduled to return to North America.

If they're scheduled to return ?
