I love how pearl jam interacts with their fans...and does all kinds of cool things like ...put out albums.

The Black Crowes have a pretty good setup.  Even though they disbanded their "official" fan club a few years back, they have a strong online community that management interacts with pretty frequently.  They had some meet n greets on the last tour, a big halloween costume contest on-stage (hilarious, i was there), and even a private club show for regulars of amorica.org.

Also, they typically play some of the coolest venues in each city and do a lot of suprise acoustic gigs.  The instant live thing (cd immediately after the show, soundboard) is very cool, although pricey.

You'd have people who say that GNR "peaked" with their first album. Doesn't mean a band sucks just because they don't release a new album that is always as successful as the one before it.
