backing vocals

I know on other guns projects the rest of the band sings backing vocals as well as Axl and Tracy and raberta. But on the new guns I have yet to hear any Tracy of Raberta or other members backing just axl's voice doing both. If the live version is suppost to sound like the album this is impossible. where are these key elimates?

What's the question?
If you've watched the band live, most of them sing backing vocals.

All I am saying is the studio verson and the live versons have totally different backing vocals. I was under the impression that a live performance should sound like the studio verson. This isn't the case.

I think that the live shows are to showcase the various talents of all the members. ?
Live you get to do it once. In the studio, you can do it as many times as you want to get a certain sound or whatever. ?Also, playing live they can experiment with the songs live to bring a different sound or attitude to them every time.
So ya, the studio songs will probably have a much different sound then the live songs do

If you want that, you're asking for playback performances.....

We haven't heard any FINISHED studio versions yet so it's kind of hard to comment on how they differ.

As Faldor says the versions we've heard are not the final ones (at least, according to the GNR camp they're not) and could be Axl doing guide vocals for the others to sing come the final versions.
Or it could be the final versions, in which case the band would be singing live because Axl can't sing all the parts at once.

Why? You could just buy the studio release.. well in most cases anyways.
Live performance isn't about duplicating whats on the record. Some songs evolve over time and others just have elements that are better suited for the studio setting and likewise with live performances, theres somethings they can do that just wont sound right in the studio. its about putting on a good performance, not replicating something exactly.

Agreed, Jim Bob. I for one much prefer bands that are able to spice things up in a live environment and give their set a different feel live than the studio sound. It quickly gets dull to watch a band who can only replicate (or try to) their recorded sound note for note, beat for beat, plod, plod, plod - to me it smacks of not being able to perform live to any decent level. I personally believe Oasis in this category. Gn'R however have an awesome live sound and also are highly-skilled and very experienced live performers. Feeling the emotion/passion from a band as they perform live is key for me - GnR have had me in tears on more than one occasion during their live shows.

Iron Maiden are pretty tight live, but they don't tend to do as much in the way of backing vocals.

well as for Tracey n Roberta, they have their own solo carrer already, in fact Tracey is promoting in a very good way her album, which is amazing
, they're awesome, I love them I'm a big fan of them. Amazing singers, I don't think they can fit in the "new" GN'R

Axl overdubs in the studio, but he gets the band to sing back-up live
take for instance the original line-up, when it came to Out Ta Get Me
in the studio version, Axl sings it all, or atleast his voice is dominant, but live, Duff would sing the "You can't tell me" "They won't touch me" parts
