GNR Tokyo truck
«
on:
March 27, 2007, 08:51:07 AM »
Saw this at ROV from the poster Dreamline:
My GF caught this cruising around Tokyo on Saturday.? Sorry for the small pic, but she didn't know how to change the resolution on her new phone.? She says it was blasting "that something something jungle song"?
I've seen these driving around for other acts, but I would have loved to have seen this one.? Anyway, I thought it was cool and thought you all might like to see it.? If this doesn't merit its own thread, feel free to merge it with the Japan thread or whatever.
Edit by Will: changed "Tokoyo" to "Tokyo" in the title.

The coolest thing about this is I actually was a few meters away from Axl (my first GN'R concert ever) when that now classic picture was taken

Nothing's really "popped up" ?
?"that" is just an optical illusion ?
Is that poster truck specifically for advertising the shows (like a drive around billboard) or is it like a regular bus or something with a billboard on the side?
And I guess this means that they'll still use the "something something jungle" song to open the shows?

Is that simply a truck with an advert on it, or is it a truck containing Gn'R equipment
Either way, its good to Gn'R are making an effort

I see no reason for them to stop using jungle as their opening song. A GNR`s show is worth attending just for that moment, when first notes of the intro riff are played and the crowd errupts!

I know this is cool.
Can you imagine if GNR recruited someone to drive that around all day long in every city they visited. ?Can you imagine if you were that one person to drive it

Hmm so in Katakana it's "Guns And Roses" or directly "Ganzu ando Rosezu" (the last character is either Su or Zu, I can't tell if the accent is there or not).
These trucks make sense if you've ever seen how Japanese elections work (where candidates drive around at all hours of the day BLARING their message over loudspeakers). For whoever asked, it's not an equipment truck, it's just for advertising.

It's cool that they've decided to tell people that they're touring this time.
Ads are such an awesome way to get your message out.

Since they are actually advertising, makes me wonder if they are going to announce that they are going to release Chinese Democracy while they are in Japan. Japanese love anything, Then the rest of the world hears that they are popular and bam! Back on top of the WORLD!

By far one of the coolest promotions I've seen. I know where I live (small city - Richmond, VA.) you would never see anything like this, especially playing music at the same time.
Does anyone have a bootleg of that deep-cut song, "something something jungle"? I'd love to hear it.
