Just seen that performance of TWAT and that is one of the best things I have seen at the start when Axl and Tommy hug and Axl says something along the lines of: 'you have no idea quite how much that means' that shows just how tight this band are and how much they think of one another. Mike

Yeah, 33 I agree, from what folks had mentioned earlier, there may have been some tension between the 2 before the show, but when the show is kicking that much ass, and the sold-out crowd (me included thankfully!), is rocking the house, it's all good times!  That night was just totally awesome.  For those who like to bash everything, of course the first time they play it live isn't going to be the smoothest thing you've ever heard, but damn!  Axl's last line of the song was my highlight of the night.  If I was on the floor my highlight would have been Robin's 2 stage-dives!!!!!  Damn that looked like fun from up in Mexx 2!!!!!   yes

This song's fucking outro is orgasmic and the most emotional solo I've heard since November Rain. I mean I love The Blues and its outro is equally powerful but the solo doesn't match TWAT's solo. I mean this song has big balls like a well-hung horse.

yeah the end solo is amazing.

but the middle one has something special to it ... i dont know ... the song works so good with moving landscapes, like when you're in a train or car ...

Anybody find themselves listening to the instrumental over and over again? I didn't notice before, but the song is pretty much one long badass solo. My appreciation for this song grows every day.

Thank god, or whomever for headphones.

Thus spake the Super-Guru...Did you hear that?

« Reply #1049 on: November 02, 2006, 07:21:54 AM »

Jesus...

I had heard IRS, Better bootlegs from the live shows of course I know MADDY and The Blues since RIR 3  but hadn't heard TWAT or CITR for the longest time I don't download much music and don't have the net at home (live in a very isolated area) so I come here during work  Grin

Reading all the stuff particularly about these 2 songs...I couldn't withstand my curiousity anymore and checked the out on youtube a few weeks ago. I loved CITR right away I think it will be a huge hit if it is released as a single.

TWAT I didn't know, till I burned it to a cd (computor at work has shitty little speakers and my work area is loud) From the moment I played it in my car it has been my favorite GNR song ever it compares to Coma, Estranged, Locomotive, you know how when you first start listening to a song and everytime you hear it you hear something knew, it's fuckin insane.

the lyrics are so deep, the piano tick-tock,

I'm not a Guitar solo freak But Holy Shit that is just Brilliant ! on so many different levels...textures, pace, melodic, effects. When I think of songs/solos I can only think of one song that sort of compares to the feeling/atmosphere TWAT transcends and that is "Comfortably Numb" by Floyd which is also a monster track with an eerie setting and fuckin' monster outro.

Awsome fuckin song... now I better get my ass to the Dept.Head Meeting  rofl

Have wicked day gunners

We are going to have one hell of an end to this year....Chinese Democracy Starts ....very soon ok

I love that first bluesy solo, and I've worked out how to play it too. It's pretty simple to play, but it has so much feel and emotion to it. Who plays that part live, is it Richard, Robin or Ron?

Ah, so it's Robin that plays that part, I thought so!
I'm at work at the moment, but I'll tab it out for you later when I get home. I'm pretty sure I've worked it out note for note.

Definitely Robin. People put down this band but it's cool when you can tell the bandmembers apart just by hearing their work. I didn't care much for Robin but on the demos he kicks ass, and is so distinct. Ditto for Bucket.

And thanks, I'll be looking forward to that, I've wanted to find a tab of it for a while!  beer

A few weeks ago, I took a break from listening to this song - I revisited it this afternoon for the first time since then, and I was blown away again.

Axl's "I would do anything for you" scream sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it.

Axl is amazing, with incredible skill; this song is his swan, his passion is real. I listen to it often with great pride and pity: pity for those who think little of such beauty.

Or indeed those who have yet to hear it.

Anyway, this song rocks!

Imagine having Buckethead back in the band, belting out the TWAT solo in all it's glory, with Axls power vocals to top it all off. drool drool drool
