They better have that sick choir intro in the studio version of this song. That adds to the epic value of the song.

I don't like it.

The piano at the beginning is supposed to resemble the ticking of a clock. In the demo leak, it's as if you're getting hypnotized by listening to the rhythm of the clock, and the song emerges when you're fully pulled into the hypnosis.

The live version with the choir loses this effect. Hopefully they do not keep it on the studio version.

The choir intro does sound cool, but would be better used on a different song.

Thats an interesting interpretation of the intro.

You should post more often. beer

This song is one of the best GNR songs ever.  This is the one song I will be truly disappointed if they dont play it on the tour.

I must disagree.  The choir intro. to There Was a Time in my eyes is perfection.  A perfect, beautiful foil to the broken glass and cigarettes.   drool

I think that TWAT is one of the best songs ever in all GNR career, a perfect masterpiece, and I also think that when the final version is out, it has lots of chances of being the best Guns N' Roses song ever.

This was my opinion the day I've heard it for the first time, and months later I still think the same.

The middle part after Axl's last real verse is just TOO mixed with TOO many things going on.  Don't really know how to explain it..the song is GREAT and I LOVE it, but it needs to discriminate some of the stuff going on.  Maybe add a few more verses..then it WOULD be perfection.

You mean the "loong time for me, looong time for you, loooong time for everyone..." bit?

Yeah, I agree. That part's messy and sounds out-of-place.

That song is amazing.. and can only get better, assuming that the version we have is just a demo.  Thus, the album version will be amazing! That ripping Buckethead solo makes it! Reminds me of November rain a bit due to its epicitiy.

comparing twat to estranged sort of ruins the song for me. it isn't on that level and i don't think its kind of that song. to me its more like a long, slowed down version of double talkin jive. it has that feel to me.

LOL, that made me laugh, sorry, not disrespecting your opinion but it's funny to compare TWAT to DTJ Cheesy

Anyway, the song rules, the final solo is epic and this will be one of GN'R's greatest songs ever, I'm sure

I like it, but it isn't my favourite of the leaked songs. But any new GNR song is cool.

TWAT is definitely my favourite leaked song. Absolutely amazing song, maybe another verse should be added tho.

Said it before but i'll say it again: It's my fav of the leaks and they CANNOT remove Buckets work on this song, cos that is the icing on this beautiful cake!
Apparantly someone from another board remastered the demo enhancing the sound, I have yet to hear it though. Hopefully this version brings out some of the instruments more cos sometimes it sounds like there is too much going on and you overlook certain bits in the background. I'm sure when it's released the mix will be perfect though.

I finally heard the live version from 5/12, and thought they did a pretty good job.  It could've been tighter but thats a difficult song to perform live.  I hope its in the setlist for the upcoming tour.  I'd be really disappointed if it isn't.

"You were the one who would do anything
One who can?t recall
Where she was while she was sleeping
In another?s women?s bed"

Should be:

"You were the one who would do anything
The one who can't recall
how she wound up in another woman's bed
Or the doctor's, or the lawyer's, or the stranger's that you met".

I think it's actually

"You were the one who would do anything
The one who can't recall
When she woke, why she was sleeping
In another woman's bed
Or the doctors, or the lawyers, or the stranger that you met"
