The song is on par with Estranged...Frankly, both don't appeal to a large % of people....If you think Estranged is an epic,
then I guess you wont be disappointed.

I think it's better than Estranged, truth be told.

Both songs suffer, at this point, from weak intros. Estranged is fine up until the "I don't know I'm s'posed ta find ya bay-baaaay" bit...too processed-sounding for my tastes - I hate the effect Axl used that makes it sound like his voice is only coming out of one muffled speaker or whatever...

It's a great song, and the solos are wonderful, but Estranged works better when I'm in certain moods than TWAT. TWAT gets me pumped and works well when I'm feeling down.

It's an incredible song - I don't understand the criticisms. I even like hiphoppy effects in the demo...

The lyrics are arguably the finest that Axl's ever written.

I LOVE the song.

I think people who diss it, well, i think it comes from problems in the demos not the song.

Basicly the demo with bucket on is poorly mixed or whatever (cos it a demo) and its too damn hard to hear axl at places in the mix, its like bucket's guitar is up way too lound IMHO.

In the 99 demo or whatever the other version is, you can hear the AXL track much clearer I feel, and I think it makes a better mix overall. (Although its a shame too loose the outtrow)

This will earn me a flame from someone no doubt, but i also wonder if its not too much overplaying at the start. Like you have the melody in the lyrics, and the panio, and the guitar part is kinda mirroring the melody but not exactly and in places in the first verse and a bit after, it sounds like its competing, which is where i think the "mess" thing
comes up. This would again be fixed by turning down bucket a bit and cranking axl or the panio IMHO....

But overall i love the song...i love robins solos...and i love axls "I would do anything for you" lines...gives me goosebumps!

The tune is brillant, the entire cresendos and cascades of the music is awesome, and Finks solo at the end, that is magnificant, no joke, and yes like someone else said at the end with axl in his high register is fuckng amazing!

Yeah, I think Axl's vocals in the beginning and most of the song are not only stronger in the '99 version, but also sound more like classic Axl and reminiscent of the vocals from CITR. The newer demo, however, has stronger vocals during the outro and that amazing guitar solo - it's better quality recording too, even though Axl's vocals are clearer on the earlier one.

I think the song is fucking great. Period. I won't lie though, I like Better more, but I think it's because it's more of a rocker.

I love this song, it's fucking great. First it just goes slowly on, but the end part with great solos and great singing is amazing. I think they should play it in every concert before Nightrain/PC like they did with Estranged on UYI-tour (on most of it). It would fit fine. I think that when CD comes out, people are going to love this song.

The outro is robin.
It starts around the 5.50 mark. That is def robin. Listen on the inst version. you can hear it clearly.
Actually there are really two outros that are both intertwinded.

Ok cool. I should listen to them both to compare again. In my perfect world i'd listen to the 1999 one till like the end of the verses, then swap to the newer demo from after robin's first solo.

I dont have them on me to listen now, and i'm starting to wonder, is axl's "I would do anything for you" bit as insanely high in both versions? Cos i love the power of it and how its like such high singinging...is that kept in both?

The first outro is Robin, right after Axl's voice fades out with "There was a tiiiiiimeeeee." Then once the outro picks up speed, that's Buckethead.

I'm too lazy to go find the exact point of the song where the transition happens, but you can tell the difference between Bucket and Robin pretty easily.

I love the song, it's a great melancholy piece along the same lines as Estranged, with a bit of a modern edge. It moves along at a nice pace and groove too.

I just love the guitar melodies and Axl's vocals/lyrics are great.

Definitely an epic in the waiting and already a fan favourite. ok

Love this song. '99 version seems stronger, maybe 'cause it has a better mix. I think the finished version will be epic.

How exactly do we know it was recorded in 1999?

Is there two different demo versions floating about or something?

Good Question. I refer to it as the 1999 version simply because everyone else always has. I think the implication is its prebuckethead cos his parts don't seem to be on it. The other version is presumably newer as its closer to the version we got live. (Shred Solo at end etc).

Anyway...to Sum up theres two demo verison of TWAT that I know of. Any others?

2 "New" w/ Long Solo (6 minutes 43 seconds total)
3 "New" Instrumental
4 ''99 Demo
