What the HELL is he singing after:

"To simulate a cause..."

in the second verse?

SG

he is singing, "to simulate a call".  i think the song is brilliant.  it is actually my favorite set of lyrics i have ever heard in a song, ever.  yes, EVER.  the final mix is gonna be great.  i am guessing with piano and orchestra, and will be somewhat of an epic piece, with production similar to november rain.  cant wait for chinese democracy just to hear TWAT ALONE, not to mention the REST of the album!

It's "cause". I've listened to the '99 version, the 2005 version and the two live ones.

When all I've got is precious time

Twat (There Was A Time)

Broken glass and cigarettes
Writing on the wall
It was a bargain for the summer
And I thought I had it all
I was the one who gave you everything
The one who took the fall
You were the one who would do anything
One who can?t recall
Where she was while she was sleeping
In another?s women?s bed
Or the doctors or the lawyers or the stranger that she met
If there?s nothing that I can gain from this
Or anything at all
It'd be the knowledge that you gave me when I thought I'd heard it all

It was a long time for you
It was a long time for me
It?d be a long time for everyone but looks like it?s meant to be

Social class and registers
Cocaine in the hall
All the way from California
On the way to your next call
To those non-negotiations, to simulate a call
While the battle of mid-evils, and your ways around the laws
That'd keep you up and sitting pretty
On a pedestal of fear
And now you're sleeping like an angel
Near than man who reaped it
If there's something I can make of this
Or anything at all
It'd be the devil hates a loser and you thought you had it all

It was the wrong time for you
It was the wrong time for me
It was the wrong time for everyone
But it looks like I'm 'bout to see for myself

(YEP)

If I could go back in time to the place in my soul
They?re all alone, lonely teardrops
Ooh, are calling you
But I don't want to know it now
Cuz knowing you it won't change a damn thing

But there was a time

[solo]

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

Yeah, There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now

I would do anything for you
There was a time

I would do anything for you
There was a time

I would do anything for you
There was a time

[solo]

There was a time
I would do anything for you

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all
And I don't wanna know it now
Don't want to know it now

There was a time
Didn't want to know it all
Didn't want to know it all

Hearing "cause" too. It also rhymes better with "laws".

i like it better than "better" actually, it sounds good to me, although i agree with some peopl who posted that the vocals might be a little low. And the lyrics are just right, simply right. I think that axl is using too much synth in this album, but we gotta deal with that. So far it?s bearable.

Damn you Chris Pittman!!? rant

I love this song, even more than Better aswell but yes it needs to be properly mixed. Somethings not right.
obviously is not a finished version.. so dont complain about the mix....

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the final mix. This sounds so much more professional and it sounds completed compared to the '99 version which is definitely a demo.

No way its a final mix. Some guitars are hard to listen and there are some leaks here and there... Also, the freq are pretty rough, with no compressor.

its the BAD OF LEARNING EVILS, not the battle of mid - evils.  thats makes absolutely no sense.

also, its THERE ALL ALONE, not THEY'RE all alone, that also makes absolutely no sense.

finally, what '99 version are you talking about?

Jesus I thought we decided this a long time ago.

It's "Where she was once he was sleeping, in another woman's bed", and "or the bad among the evils and your ways around the laws".......................

Actually, I think it's:

"To simulate a cause
For the bad among the evils
And your ways around the laws"

'Cause that actually makes sense. Phew!

Madagas, if I tell you to go fuck yourself...would you blame it on the whiskey, or my judgement of your athletism. Dude Dan is fucking cool. Fuck that pirate captain. Damn...that was one awesome fucking fight....

I've been listening to the New  GN'R songs for a while now and just had this thought about TWAT.

The song is the longset of the leaks, the first half has all the lyrics, and the second half is an amazing solo. Every time I hear the solo, about two minutes in i'm amazes that it is still going! I think TWAT is a great song, definitley one of if not the best of the new songs.  I know this song has been played live only a few times, Hammerstein and Madrid i think. Anyway I was listening to it this morning and thought that it is the only song to resemble a UYI epic (like NR, Estranged, Coma and Locomotive) Listening to TWAT i was thinking that Axl and the band are maybe trying to make the song into one of these Epic songs, The solo is so long and in my opinion another bridge or verse section in this song could be added to make it more like one of these UYI songs.

Could this be why the song is played live rarely and one of the many reasons for CD's many delays?

This is just my guess and based on my opinions of GN'R, the new band and the new songs in general.

What do you guys think about this theory?
