Those of you who have heard the two versions of TWAT which do you prefer? The 6.01 or the 6.43 version? I personally prefer the 6.01 version as I think the solo in the longer version sounds messy and like it's just there for the sake of it.

All the demos are great but TWAT is at the top by far.? TWAT could be ranked with November Rain and Estranged imo.?

It could be ranked with those songs because it's in the same vein. It's the only new GNR song that sounds like the Illusion stuff. Other tracks like "Better" and "Catcher" don't sound like anything Axl has ever done before. But with that said, TWAT is an AMAZING song

You are mistaken. Catcher In The Rye sounds like it should have been placed right before November Rain. Of course it sounds like UYI.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there...I don't think Catcher is in the same vein at all as Use Your Illusion. TWAT to me sounds like it goes hand in hand with Estranged, but Catcher I believe is a whole different sound...it's much more Beatles-esque (after all, the song is about Lennon).

BUT!!!...I think we can both agree that Silk Worms...is probably the worst Guns and Roses song in history...if THAT track makes it onto Chinese Democracy, it'd be a travesty

Yes, Silkworms sucks complete anus.

"You were the one who would do anything
One who can?t recall
Where she was while she was sleeping
In another?s women?s bed"

Should be:

"You were the one who would do anything
The one who can't recall
how she wound up in another woman's bed
Or the doctor's, or the lawyer's, or the stranger's that you met".

And
"Cocaine in the hall
All the way from California
On the way beyond that stall"

should be

"Cocaine in the hall
All the way from California
On the way to your next call"

I didn't feel like reading through 47 pages of threads so I will basically say what is bothering me about this song.

What the hell is the deal with the chorus?  THe rest of the song is nearly perfect, but I can't stand the chorus.  I like the lyrics but I can't stand the guitars.  It just sounds like a bunch of noise.  No rhythm or feel.  If they could find a halfway decent chorus this song would be frickin golden.

Have you heard the instrumental?

The guitars at that part don't sound so tuneless, it kind of works. I think Axls vocals are poor here, if he sang the words in a different fashion, more short, snappy and aggressive, I think it would work a lot better.

The second correction is definitely right, but in the first part there, the word "sleeping" is definitely there, no question about it.

You're right...I flubbed a word.

It's:

"how she wound up sleeping
in another woman's bed"

Thing is about the leaks I can't understand a lot of the lyrics, but I thought it was:

"Yes, the word was he was sleeping in another women's bed."

But trust me I don't boast to know half the lyrics to the leaks, even though I listen to them a lot!!!!

i agree with you 100%.

it took me a while to get used to it. i give him credit for trying something different. it's almost as if it's "under-produced". and i've heard it so many times that i'm used to it, and it seems to fit now.

but EVERYONE i play the song for comments about it. and in general they say they wish his vocals were louder and/or more clear throughout the song.

Yes, it's just incredible how powerful Axl can sound with such an cheesy line. Definately my favorite leak.  I do hope they will play it a lot during the tour in Europe. Smiley

i like it better than "better" actually, it sounds good to me, although i agree with some peopl who posted that the vocals might be a little low. And the lyrics are just right, simply right. I think that axl is using too much synth in this album, but we gotta deal with that. So far it?s bearable.

Damn you Chris Pittman!!  rant

I love this song, even more than Better aswell but yes it needs to be properly mixed. Somethings not right.

I took it to be a clever dig at a previous lover... "I would do anything for you, There Was A Time"... The last part, TWAT, is the abbreviation of the song but also quite a common word where I come from to describe someone you have a certain dislike for.
