Oh ye gods.

The last weeks I refused to listen to more than "Better" and "IRS", but
the days of waiting got me so far that I was on the brink of listening to
TWAT or CITR.

But there never was the right moment.

So picture this: I, 28yr old, longhaired guy, had a few hard days in the
last time - career stuff, unclear future, normal stuff. So, two hours ago
or so, I was in quite a depressed mood and sat on a graveyard in the
middle of Hannover, Germany (NO, no big deal - I just like the silence? Wink).
I skipped around the tracks on my MP3player, to find something to fit? my
mood. I already had TWAT on this, but had skipped it all the time.

And so I sat there, on this graveyard, in the falling snow, a cigarette in my
hands and thought - "Hell, when, if not now?"

And believe it or not - the first part was disturbing and I was sittin' there,
wondering "wtf?"

THEN with the beginning of the piano, the snow stopped.

And THEN with last part, the sun came out of the clouds.

I really was stunned and my quarterlife-crisis never had the slightest chance.
Jebus, I felt like reborn. I really FELT how the music flowed through me and filled
me up. And never stopped listening to the song since that.

What an experience.? smoking

Nice story man, i guess the people that love this song feel some sort of emotional connection with the lyrics. Iv  been planning on asking this girl out for ages now. I really do love her very much, weve been friends for 10 years, went to see her then found out she is going out with someone else.

I felt destroyed and really quite ill so turned the player on in the car, TWAT started playing, I love all the song but when "I would do anything for you" came on i just burst into tears. Axls vocals just ripped through everything. Im 19 and not ashamed to say that. Im a very lonely person and i think thats why Estranged, Coma and now TWAT are my favourite songs

If this is true...that's fucking amazing!!!?

Of course it's true, why should I lie to fellow gunners?   beer

BTW, I find it intersting how the experience of listening changes, if you listen to the songs over and over again.
At first I had a feeling of two seperate parts: One part until the piano, then the other. Not really connected.
Then I had the feeling that they are connected, the first part being a build-up for the second.
And now I feel morelike the song is a complete thing, no "parts" at all.
I wonder what will come next.  hihi

Best song ever. Hands down... love it.. just seems like a song you would put in a movie.. looking back on the past.. if they were to make a GNR documentary when everything is done.. this would be a great song to end the documentary...

yeah, thats what separates gnr from other rock bands...not only do they get ya'all pumped up, but there are those Axl gems (Estranged esp. for me) that really touch you...and not only the lyrics, but also Axl's voice...it's really emotional and heart felt.  Seriously, I'm a big music fan and it's rare when there is a singer who has such a powerful voice that can grab you and shake ya right up.  His voice alone speaks volumes.  And I was a bit skeptical w/ the new music, but in TWAT his voice captures me once again!

ps. dude...grow some testicles and go for it...go for the girl...even if you get burned, at least you tried!  It's better to live and take a chance than to never know.  (but be aware that you may be jepordizing the best friendship you ever had...watch "pretty in pink" if you wanna relate w/ "duckie"....)

In my opinion, with exception to the last half of the song, this is the worst of the leaks.  Although IRS isn't a lyrical masterpiece, it beats this.

There's truly something about that "I would do anything for you" part that I can't put my finger on - I had a similar reaction to it after a rough couple of days, and that part of the song put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. It's an emotionally and musically intense part of the song.

When i first heard T.W.A.T - Better - I.R.S - Catcher in the Rye i really wasn't sure. It wasn't Guns N'Roses. IRS i liked, Catcher i didn't like, T.W.A.T sounded average and Better as a no go. Now after some time has passed, Better is like my favourite song, I.R.S has faded alittle, T.W.A.T the 2nd half is so good and Catcher in the Rye seems the weakest.

It wasn't until lastnight i played afew tracks from the UYI albums that it hit me. While the new GnR songs sound very different, i like this new sound more, almost to the point of not liking the UYI material. Better and T.W.A.T make even Estranged sound slighly flat.

Looks like i might have to make my way over to the Download Fextival, if only for the finnal gig  Smiley

Woahhhh i woudlnt say estranged now sounds flat... thats an overstatement man.. lol.. i mean these new songs are good but estranged is a polished well written and played song.. one of the great GNR classics... Axls vocals in that song are legendary.. now the video on the other hand.....  no
