really?? can someone give me the times?? the one I have is 6:43

does anyone know what the difference is between the versions?

The longer version has a longer guitar solo after the 4:25 (roughly) mark.

To compare, judge the length between where Axl stops singing around 4:25 to the time when he starts singing again.

I really am digging the guitar on TWAT...I like the whole thing...and the more I listen the more I like it smoking  I think after this is mastered I think the vocals will sound less separated from the music.

One thing for sure is Zeppelin wouldn't be able to make this. Tongue
Great vocal tune. follow up to estranged?
There're a few bits I don't like about this demo (like a few secs of loose guitar solo)  but that's kinda cool.

Every time I listen to it, I'm amazed. Such an honest, difficult song. Love Axl's delivery and it's guitar work is something to behold. The only slight thing I don't care a whole lot about is the chorus "it was a long time for you, it was a long time for me, etc.". After that line where Axl says "when I thought I'd heard it all" and everything stops for a second, you expect it to just crush you, but it's a bit anti-climatic. Still an amazing piece of work. Could end up being regarded as one of Axl's possible masterpieces...

That's actually one of my favorite parts, fits in perfectly and gives the song a cooler edge. It sounds a bit like Jane's Addiction.

This tune is unbelievable.

It grows on you. First time, I was unsure. Now I'm blown away.

This blows EVERY Velvet Revolver song out of the water. Truth.

Amazing.

I think TWAT is Axl remembering multiple incidence about his life from the beginnings of gnr...

When you listen to twat ---
Broken glass cigarettes, writing on the wall - it was a bargain for the summear and I thought I had it all...

Sounds like him moving to LA when he was young, gettting a place for the summer and he thought he was on top of the world being out on his own??  Then he goes into meeting people, relationships etc... I seem to remember something about him talking about his apt when he moved there...being hot, summertime...

The next verse I think is about the band - meeting Slash etc??
Social class and registers, cocaine in the hall, all the way from california, all your ways around the laws..slash is from california isn't he - didn't he go to college for a short time too? again, i don't remember correctly maybe someone can correct? just me remembering articles and stuff over the years.

Slash didn't wake up next to a doctor, or a lawyer, or a stranger that he met.

At least I hope he didn't.

Point being - it's a love song about a girl.

I think this song sounds like it's about Stephanie Seymour, but your interpretation of the first lines is interesting.  That could very well be what he's talking about in those lines  ok

No - it's about a bunch of different things that happend to him around that time I think -

Moving to LA, getting a shity place, meeting crazy women, meeting slash, meeting more crazy women.

From what I read about slash I think he actually came from a decent family and was in school and all that before he started the music thing...

and each verse ends with - 'if there's nothing I can gain from this, or anything at all'  'something I can make of this or anything at all', - then he goes into a lesson he learned about the devil liking them and stuff like that... I don't think it's about any one specific person...just a collection of similar experiences from a time period..

DunkinDave and ShotgunBlues1978 are correct.  Man, LookingforBigfoot, this one's pretty obvious.  Have you ever been in a bad relationship where you gave your everything, and the feelings weren't reciprocated???  If not, you're alone in the world.   Wink

dude, why does a song have to be about only one person? true the title is about women as are alot of the lyrics, but I think it's more about things and people in his life a long time ago - not necessarily one person...
