Better hasnt even been heard in australia yet on the radio stations,
and as far as im concerned, is a song that you can never get sick of,
so why the fckk would it not be a great single?

Ohh i forgot, because only americans and mabye one or 2 other countries have heard it,
which means, "better cant be the single, it doesn't have the "wow " factor"

you know what,

it doesnt have the wow factor caus you listen to the demo way too much (dizzy incompleted/dissapointment for it to happen)
so how can you judge it??

This album has cost 13 million dollars, has taken a very..very long time to finish and has been in the spotlight for a good while now.  It better damn well have a "wow" factor.  "Better" is just fine and dandy.. but Axl needs to release the "Best".  Although I love the song, I pray that it isn't the best on C.D.

Chinese Democacy Track List:
Better
Catcher in the Rye
Silkworms
The Blues
Madagascar
IRS
TWAT
Chinese Democracy
Oh my God
Rhiads and the Bedouins

I hope people realize that we are most likely "waiting" for 2-3 songs...All of which will most likely be leaked weeks before the album is.

Yep. That and I would bet money that the above tracklist is FAR from what we'll get.

Even if your alleged final track list were accurate (and it's not), we still haven't heard studio versions of The Blues, Madagascar, or Chinese Democracy.? There's still lots to look forward to.

Better's at the top, with 45% of votes ok

That's ridiculous IMHO.

Do you guys honestly like "Better" more than Welcome to the jungle, Estranged, and Sweet child of mine?  Seriously?

Quite honestly, yes I do. anything wrong with it?

You're like asking if the rock fans in the late 80s or early 90s really liked Welcome to the jungle, Estranged, and Sweet child of mine more than stairway to heaven, gimme shelter and other great rock classics.

They are all great but at the moment better (or IRS) is my fav.

How? All of the songs featured are Guns N' Roses songs.

My post was in reply to ppbebe

I understood that.

What I didn't understand is how comparing different Guns N' Roses songs is comaring two different bands.

I heard Better on the radio yesterday. It was closer to the first leaked version. It rocked. It was real tight. Axl's vocals were crisper and mixed differently than any other version I have heard. For the record I did hear the latest version that Dizzy was talking about. I did not like it at all.

I hadn't been on here for over a week and thought I would come here today and read about the official single being released. It was that good that I thought I was in fact listening to the final studio version of "Better".

Could the band have slipped it in there to counteract the shit version? It would be a great idea IMO.

I'm telling you this was final mix quality!

No, it wasn't. I would say it was a mixed version with both demos. I already heard that and sounded indeed better than the previous, but not final mix quality for sure.

Or maybe the radio EQ was just different.

where? I'm not and you're.

what ridiculous is that you can't see it's about songs and not bands. I thought you could and  I interpreted your question as  the comparison of classic vintages and fresh and a little innovative ones. Which fits your mood of these days bedder? ---- but apparently you're just trying to compare the bands.
Is it the lineup of the band that decide if you should like a song?

And I don't think your preference of AN old song to A recent one makes you less of a keen appreciator of modern music/ GNR.
Tastes differ. For instance, if it was the blues, although a good song everybody loves, I'd take wttj or paradise city. and yet I might be saying otherwise in 10years time or even in a few weeks. Who knows.

My reply to your comment here was the only one involving different bands.  I was commenting on your comparison.  I could not care less who is in the band when I hear the new songs, I am not that anal of fan.  If it sounds great then hell I love it.  I am simply saying it seems odd that everyone is selecting BETTER as their "favorite" gnr song.  I cannot see how BETTER surpasses SCOM or WTTJ.   Those songs are fucking masterpeices, and BETTER, even though it is a really good song, just doesnt quite compare.

Hopefully I don't come off as dissing "Better".  Just saying it doesn't quite match up with the perfection of those 2 songs.

quick example.  There is not a single note that I would change in either SCOM or WTTJ, they are perfect.   BETTER on the other hand has that sloppy robot noise after the heavy part that just sounds.. not that great.   I don't know, maybe robot noises just arent for me.  Not to mention the rythem guitar is extremely basic.

My reply to your comment here was the only one involving different bands.? I was commenting on your comparison.? So what you're saying is that you personally don't think "Better" is a better song then SCOM or WTTJ? If that's the case, then that's cool but I can't understand how you can be disappointed with other people for liking "Better" more.

(P.S. Before you remind me that you were replying to someone else, please remember that you're posting in a public area. Even if you were originally talking to someone else, due to the nature of these things other people are going to throw their opinion in.)

So, all you're saying is your opinion and ppbebe (and me, BTW) can't have a different taste?

Oh, Better has "that sloppy robot noise"?. So, Rocket Queen has sex sounds on it, does it make the song worse?

And for your "extremely basic" guitar work, the tempo and the chords are far from being basic. You know, the song is not just power chords, as many people think.

I really think it's funny how people just can't stand for someone liking a new song more than the old ones. It's like sacrilege or something. Tongue

The age of the songs means jack and shit to me.  Jumble it all together and hit play and I'm a happy man.  New songs, old songs, it is all just guns and roses.   I aboslutely love BETTER, but it just isn't QUITE in the same league as SCOM or WTTJ, Paradice City.  To me someone saying "I like BETTER more than WTTJ" is similar to them saying "I like Shotgun Blues more than WTTJ"  I may beleive that a few people here or there will think that, but not 54% of the community.

I don't think that the whole GN'R-communtiy voted on that list, if that now would make you any more happy.

I voted for Better, simply, because I like it the most out of the songs that you can choose from.

"Better" is obviously not the greatest song GN'R has even come up with, but I rank it in my top 5 for sure.  I went ahead and voted for it anyway, give the new songs some recognition!
