So you're saying you want more Dizzy in the mix?

Surely this can't be a YALPJ (Yet Another Lame Pitman Joke)?

Yes, I know as Dizzy said, it sucks when the song is played before it's even completed.
Yes, I know it shouldn't be aired.
Yes, I know that since it's a crappy demo version it can't be played as loud as a real song...

but God Damn it sounded good hearing it on the radio!!!   yes

It's pretty weird, because that version doesn't sound anything like the song I at the concert?

The live tones just don't sound the same. I don't like that huge guitar sound, ala korn. Stick to the classic tones, get the synth garbage out.

Remember how Guns starting mixing back in September with Andy Wallace?  If I had to guess, I believe that this version of "Better" must have been the result of that mixing session.  Like the band has said, it was an experiemental mix for the Harley ad that was supposed to come out in November.

Since then, Axl has gone back into the studio and put on the finishing touches as well as started re-mixing.  Chances are the Chinese Democracy version of "better" will likely be different.

I wonder how many 'different' versions will they continue to come up with until they decide enough is enough - Time to release the album  peace

Ok I've stumbled upon something hear me out.  Ok I've listened to three versions of Better  Rock AM Ring 06, Inland Invasion, New Jersey concert on the North American Tour.  Now When the first Demo we got was a real hard rocking demo version of the song and that's what it sounded like at the Rock AM Ring concert.  When they played at Inland Invasion I listened to their performance of the song it was the Pittman synth version which was leaked to radio.  NOW REGARDING THE NEW JERSEY CONCERT !!! I believe this version is the final one if you listen to the new jersey performance its the same as the first demo that came out hard rocker but DURING this part of the song

No matter what you'd pay me
replay the part
You stole my heart
I should have known you're crazy

If all I knew was that with you
I'd want someone to save me
It'd be enough,
But just my luck
I fell in love and baby

THERE IS A SMALL SYNTH PART AND THAT'S IT.  You can listen to the three performances of the songs yourself I just believe that the version they played at the new jersey show is the final version we will hear on the album

It's just a matter of proper mixing on stage and the venue's acoustic. All of them should sound kinda the same if there was a good mix.

for what it's worth...my favorite version of Better was the 2nd to last show in LA, December 19th, 2006.  It's absolutely killer...great energy.

also, while I commend GNR4L for trying to figure out the evolution of Better in that 3 month period...I think the quality of the live recordings can cause you to hear things you wouldn't necessarily hear gig to gig.

bottom line, it's a great song.   peace

I think it's one of the best GN'R songs ever.  This coming from a fan of 19 years.  I have been listening to this song for over a year now and I just do not get sick of it.  It's brilliant.

I'm an old GnR fan from the beginning...when this new version of the band was put together I was sceptical because I thought the old GnR sound would be gone...and alot of it is...but not in a bad way! This song blew me away, Axl's voice really suits a song like this and I love that big guitar sound in the middle. The intro is good too...it's not traditional rock blues... but its a move forward for Axl in terms of exploring a new sound for GnR...it works really well! I turn up the bass and blast this song through the car sound system and it sounds awesome, great driving song!
