but I'm just concerned... maybe you should change your rule in that sticky so that it encompasses telling members to check their PM boxes.  At least then we'll all be clear that it's against the rules so that we won't get banned.

Known better than to advise others to stay up to date on their private messages? That's good advice any time, especially when a poster just broke the rules. I'm pretty sure that BLS just wanted to alert that new poster that he may be in danger of getting negative karma.

Great point CC.  I think it's a very smart idea to help out someone, especially someone who is new to a big forum like this.  Might be the person's first forum too and they're still getting used to all the different features.  But banning BLS was completly uncalled for.

I've never seen people helping others out by posting "check your PMs" randomly without a good reason.

Maybe you go around asking people randomly "Did you check your e-mail?"..... Try it, I wouldn't be shocked if the reply you get is "Why? Did you e-mail me something?".

Look, I've been hanging around this place for years and there is one constant... Jarmo is a pretty straight shooter. We have been dealing with these leaks for for almost a year and from the second they hit they were off limits here. Every time someone came into a leak discussion a hour or so too late they started begging "LEAK... What leak... PM me" or "Link Please!" and they would be read the rules and yet every time some one asked for the same thing just two posts later. It gets old. It isn't very hard to find these things if you would take the three seconds to look. Instead people choose to test the boundries like a puppy seing what they can get away with.

After a year of this what do we expect the Mods or Jarmo to do?? Keep hitting us on the nose just to have us come back testign our limits 10 minutes later??

In theory, demos are leaked by management either as a ploy to get Axl to hurry up (made sense in 06) or to test the waters while having the option of saying 'yea, well it's only a demo' if people hate it (makes sense now; they learned that lesson from Oh My God).

if these leaks are not authorized by gnr, how hard is it to understand that a fan site doesn't allow sharing leaked material?! anyone would half a brain understands that! i totally understand the curiosity but i also understand this:

i do not know any serious fan site that accepts or encourages sharing of leaked material, and i've been to a few.

so of course jarmo has to react to it to make people understand this is harming the band, even bbf said so in his recent email.

Notice how the tenor of the board has changed from "March 6th is out the window and Axl is a liar" to "Better is awesome, CD must be on the way." Management has achieved their objective. The backlash when March 6th comes and goes will be far smaller now that they threw us another little bone to buy themselves more time.
