the world famous kroq here in LA its been played atleast 3 times today within the hour. the dj said it sounds so good and said if axl is listening that he's doing an awesome job

So begins the marketing?  Anyways, the "newer" version is definitely cleaner and definitely is the one from the Harley ad.  I don't like how they toned down some of the guitars in the beginning half, but I like Pitman's background string sound.  In the heavy part, Pitman's keyboards are more prevalent than before which I'm kind of iffy on, but they work.  The last part of the song is more developed though and the drums are great.  Overall, I like.

As a point of interest, here's what one of the magazine sites said about the leak (I won't name / url the site because it provides a trail):

"Um, okay, this may turn out to be a really well-executed hoax, but damn if it don't sound like Axl. ?And I don't think it sucks.
I mean, it's not good. But it empirically does not suck. I'm not sure what's going on with that U2-meets-Bj?rk beginning or the Q-Bert sound effects in the middle, and at times like these one really understands the value of Slash, but still. I was sort of expecting this to sound like utter poop. Huh."

Personally, I find the comment about the track possibly being a hoax - including the vocals - particularly amusing. ?There's just no mistaking Axl's voice, I'm sorry. ?Considering that "Better" has been a set list fixture since the Hammerstein shows, anyone who writes a column/news item like this should be better informed, or they should keep simply keep quiet.

I don't think this new leaked version is the finished for cd version. It's just sloppy ( mix wise ) in parts
