This version of "Better" was just played on Rock 102.1 FM in Milwaukee.  The DJ's made a big deal out of it like it was an official radio single release, but they probably downloaded it from the same website as the rest of us.

People expecting another AFD sound wise will be deeply disapointed.  Axl didn't add a 2nd keyboardist and 3rd guitarist to try and get the appetite sound.  The Illusions were alot more evolved and produced than Appetite.  I expect the same trend to be true with CD.  While I personally love this new version, I won't say it's the final cut.  But those thinking CD is going to be all guitar with no keyboards or effects, time to come to reality.  The most upsetting thing is how many people are badmouthing the direction already.  I can't wait to see all the bitching once people realize CD won't be It's So Easy recorded 13 different ways.

They have taken away a lot of the edge the song had. The heavy aspects. It's too soft now. Get the roughness in it back.

This aint a final version. I have listened to it a few times now and it's not. Sound effects come and go, some guitars are high in the mix, some are way too low, Axl's vocals is new yes, but theres something very fishy about this version

that's true; can't be the mixed/mastered version because of that. but still nice to hear the drums better and the vocals a lot louder. on the other hand again, the other version has definitely more charm.

Why not? The world will come to an end?  hihi

This aint a final mix at all. The last solo comes in sooo high in the mix a child would hear it wasnt right. I dont know why some of you cant hear obvious flaws and things and automatically take this for a final version. Im not educated in music at all but I can still hear things arent right.

I think at the end of the US tour Axl was performing this song a lot better vocal wise, than what is on the leaked versions. In aprticular, he nails the middle part much better like than on here. The "venom" in his voice is much more present live, and is more reminicant of the older days.

The intro/outro is one of the worst things ever produced by the GNR name. Sounds like some Emo rubbish with terrible guitars.

I can see why some GNR fans don't like the intro/outro to the song. But please don't show your ignorance by calling it "emo". You obviously have no concept of what "emo" is if you think that is in that style of music. I see people do this occasionally and its hilarious, if they think that something in modern music is bad, no matter what it is, they call it "emo". Hiliarious. My guess is that you have a very outdated view of music and probably listen to virtually the same stuff you did 15 years ago.

By the way, I don't like "emo" so don't take this as me defending the genre.

Do your homework buddy before you start spewing crap.

if you called the intro/outro "trip hop influenced" i would agree with you.

Not sure what I think of it really. It is good to hear another version, but it does seem a little slower and a bit more "plodding" than the previous versions. Does that make it worse? Not sure. I think a long will depend on the overall feel and tone of the album.

Still, any news is good news at this stage..

This is where we fuck up Downloading leaks that arent meant to be heard.

U get use to a certain version and even though a newer version is much better, u are so use to the first one u heard, that the new ones sound weird and its harder to accept.

People also got used to the fast The Blues from 2001 because the players lacked a bit of practice. It's the way things work. If people can't understand that demo songs, different mixes etc ARE different then they should stop and think for a bit.

guitars in the intro are by far too low in the mix; so is the melotron; bass and guitar are amazingly heavy during verses; although there are more electronic elements now, they somewhat destroy the old cool subtle sounds; less would have been more, as far as quality goes... and yes, the bucket guitars are often too much in the background, and the robin solo (+nah nahs) is too loud.

Enough points to see that this is not a final version
