"Better" - discuss it in this thread

So, its just the demo than huh? Thats what i thought, but was hoping maybe they just got the single a little early. All radio should get it soon anyway. Im just sick of waiting for this thing to get going and I know i'm not the only one.

Better is a great first single if thats what they plan to release.

The lryrics are brilliant, The verses are catchy and have that vintage Axl sound, the chorus is brutal, it has that heavy screaming part in the middle that just blows you away, and it has two distict solos, one metal and one bluesy, and it has the weird but very melodic intro outro bookends that stick in your head and make you want to hear it again.

This song is a true melting pot and has something for everyone,  there are elements that are very different from anything that GnR has ever done, and there are elements that are totally familiar. 

I think that if this song hits radio people will love it.  My wife likes GnR but she is not a diehard and she liked Better instantly. 

With that said,  Im sure they have plenty of songs that could be first singles.  I dont care because the album is gonna be in stores soon enough.

They just played Better on WCCC... Sounded about the same as the demo, IMO. It's such a kickass song!

WCCC just got a call from merck saying dont play Better anymore. I emailed them to ask when they were gonna play it again and he say they cant play it anymore bc the record company called and said they cant

Seems as the DJ didn't pay much mind to that.

"better" would have done great 2 or 3 years ago, but now the market has changed, There is an overdose of "poppy/metal/emo" singles. It's not fresh anymore. What the world needs is a short and strong Rock/Hard-Rock guitar driven song.

The feedback from the recent airplay (today) says otherwise...............

I spoke to the DJ for about 5 minutes and he told me his manager is expecting the single next week.

I remember not so long ago, "Prostitute" was rumoured to be a phenomenal track, and rumoured as the 1st single.

I had always hoped for Better to be the first single out of the songs that we have heard so far. IT WILL be the single, so to those that still don't believe it, just wait. I guarantee it.

EDIT: Plus all of the postitive feedback it was getting from people at that radio station and from people calling in, is nothing but GREAT FUCKING NEWS!!!
