I don't know why I just realized this, and apologies if it has already been brought up.... but does anyone else feel like Axl sings with extra emphasis when he sings: ".... I should have known YOU'RE CRAZY..." in the beginning of "Better"? I'm wondering if that's an intentional allusion back to the old school song "You're Crazy". I love when artists do shit like that. Or is it just a coincidence? If it is an allusion... I take it to mean that the song "You're Crazy" could be applied to Stephanie (who assumedly "Better" is about) just as much as it was applied to whoever the band first wrote the song about in the late 80's. Huh

I think the song should stay the way it is.  To me, it's about a guy getting over a bad relationship and he's going through several phases.  In the beginning he sounds sad and is thinking why he even got started with her.  Then he becomes angry in a "fuck you bitch" kinda way.  Finally, he calms down as if he realizes she isn't worth bothering with anymore and goes into a "see ya bitch, good luck cause you're not my problem anymore" phase and is over the relationship.

To continue, I think the whole "No one ever told me when I was alone, They just thought I'd know better.. better..." part is talking about how he has to deal with the break up himself and that no one "told him" how bad it would be since they figured he'd already know.  Or it could be reference to the relationship itself in that he was "alone" in it (being distanced from his girlfriend or didn't have anyone on the outside to help) and that others assumed he knew when he was being wronged (instead he was blinded by her).  Personally, I think the song is more about getting over someone after a break up than the break up or relationship itself.

I've read some stuff about here better and listnened to it a couple of times again recently and its a fucking tune but i have one problem with it. The solo at 2min 23 (Buckethead im guessing), is fucking disgusting! Its disjointed and it really doesnt fit the song at all, now i love a good solo as much as the next guy but that aint a good solo.  It makes me want to smash that fuckers guitar!

Okie... I haven't posted in here yet... strangely enough... seeing as Better is one of the best songs IMHO of the past 10 years! No one else has released such a fucking awesome song.

I still say There Was A Time is better (pun not intended! hihi ) but Better is fucking awesome and definitely needs to go in a Hall of Fame of some kind!! ok


And has anyone else experienced it getting irremovably lodged firmly within the mind?
