If there's one thing I believe everyone here can unanimously agree on is the awesome Finck solo at the end. ?
For me, the shitty parts are 2:22 - 2:32 and that alien/computer sound when everything else silences.

Its something different and will be a big surprise

« Reply #1124 on: February 23, 2006, 09:57:25 PM »

spacebrain i think you hit it on the head....

I dont think Axl is gonan go for the conventional song/album. Its pretty obivious hes not for the most part. Its gonna be a different album. Its going to be guitar based, which is what every1 wanted and hoped for but its not gonna be structured or conventional. Its going to be different. Different but a surprise!

I am happy that the band sounds the way it does. WIth TWAT, The Blues, IRS and Cd I have a conventional type song. With MAdagascar, and Better I have something a little different then what we would normally hear GNR do. And I like that change of pace. Every song can stand on its own.

I think the only question I have left for me regarding this album is the production. If they hit a home run with the production like they did with these songs and ideas, the album will truly be amazing

I am surprised at how many people don't like this song as a whole.
I think the song has a wicked vibe, and I think the changes in it get Axl's message through pretty dam good.
I also love the contrast between solos.
IMO this song is perfect.

I am SO fucking excited for this album. Just when I thought I couldn't get any more excited.... I love this sound. It sounds experimental, very bucket-influenced, awesome riffs, soloing madness, fucking intensity. It doesn't sound like anyone else, except for the bucket influence.
I'm tired of your average conventional song requirements shit, I am so fucking happy AXL is going at this all out, experimentation bliss, to me this song sounds conceptual. I think it's fucking awesome and I can't wait to hear everything else AXL's been churning out.

This song is mind-blowingly good. ?I'm sure in the production that 2 or 3 seconds of R2D2 rapping will be smoothed-in or smoothed-out. ?Awesome stuff.

uneducated guess....

dude if you like bucket's chromatic unintelligent wanking thats great...

No what?s unintelligent is to summarize great skillful guitarplaying as wanking, where it merely doesn?t appeal to your one-track blues mind.

but don't be a dick.

Yeah well, you know what they say: ?after the defeat?slander becomes the tool of the loser?.

I find bucket just crams a zillion notes in and it doesn't work (with the exception of the cool sweep just before the second verse)

Well then say that, but don?t make a fool out of yourself by talking about ass licking and poor choices, where what is being done is obviously very skillful and done by a talented guitar player.

I think robin is waayyy closer to the original gnr form than bucket. this isn't the 80's no one cares about shredding anymore

Maybe it is to you. I however (and many others) listen to other great guitar players like Buckethead, and really know how to appreciate a player who can do it all and is able to play a solo that gives the song some more contrast and added value in perspective to all the things that already have been done in the past.

Buckethead is the weak element in those demos.

do you have an echo effect hooked up to your keyboard?

Yep, and it?s a very cheap one?

Alright, this full version fucking rocks.  No questions asked.  It took me a while to accept the second half b/c I had a preconceived notion of how it would finish.

But this what we expect from Axl and I think the brand of Gn'R.  Hell, I remember thinking the middle of Welcome to the Jungle did not fit when I first heard it back in the early 1990s.

This song rips.  You can hear the passion, hunger and drive in the music and Axl's voice.  Its amazing.  TWAT, which I adore, does not come across as strong as this does, imo.

I am glad this song is so different I am hope its indicative of the rest of CD.  Hell, for a ten-year in the making record, I do not want a cut and dry Creed-type rock song (which is how Better started off, essentially).

Way to go Ax.   Now lets not puss out and release this mutha.   smoking peace

When all I've got is precious time

« Reply #1137 on: February 23, 2006, 11:04:41 PM »

from chrisguy from 2ti

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better.

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better.

The hardest part this troubled heart has never
Yet been through now.
We've healed the scars that got their start
Inside someone like you now.

Well had I known or I'd been shown back
When I longed you'd take me.
To break the charge that brought me home
And all that won't erase me.

I never would know that I could
No matter what you'd pay me.
Replay the part, you stole my heart
I should have known you're crazy.

If all I knew was that with you
I'd want someone to save me.
It'd be enough, but just my luck,
I fell in love and baby all that I wanted was

Now I know you better,
You know I'd know better,
Now I know you better!

So bittersweet, this tragedy won't ask for absolution,
This melody inside of me still searches for solution,
A twist of fate, a change of heart,
Kills my infatuation,
A broken heart, provides the spark for my determination,

No one ever told me when I was alone,
They just thought I'd know better, better.
Ooh, no one ever told me when I was alone,
They just thought I'd know better, better.

All that I wanted was
I know you know you know better
You know I know you know better
Now you know me better

(Solo)

I never wanted you to be so full of anger,
I never wanted you to be somebody else,
I never wanted you to be someone afraid to know themselves,
I only wanted you to see things for yourself,

All that I wanted was
Now I know you better,
Now we all know better,
All that I wanted was

(Solo)

Just knowing you, I bet it's true,
A point of invitation,
Upon this love that gave you up, with your adoration
Just use your head and in the end,
You?ll find your inspiration,
To choose your steps, I won't regret,
This kind of aggravation,

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better.
No one ever told me when I was alone,
They just thought I'd know better, better...

I'll bet you never thought you'd see a GNR album titled "Spaghetti incident" either, did you?

Well I've witnessed a "Spaghetti Incident" first hand, And i have to tell you it looked identical to the album cover for that album. It wasn't me that spewed it forth but i can tell you one thing i learned that night.

beer and spaghetti don't mix well. in fact the noodles somehow managed to rejoin and become full again puke

so yeah i can see a bunch of drunk fools going,

"remember that spaghetti incident?"
"haha, yeah that was fucking gross"
"Well he made fun of our idea to make and album of cover songs, he said he would puke if we did it"
"Well let call it the spaghetti incident then"
(the story above is made up. any similarities to actual events are purely coincidental, and no animals were harmed in the creative process)

What the fuck is so prosperous about chili? Other than you get more gas than you had before hihi But I just can't see a gnr song about farts. I'm sorry
