I can't belive I am on the fence about better, the 206 was perfect imo, could have ahad  slight change in teh intro, maybe an scom wttj riff but it's all good anyways.. The second half were recieved is somewhat spotty, spots of brilliance spots of wtf.. Should be excellent once it's worked out.. There ar ekinks in this demo...

As for teh songs in general, twat is second for me, irs is way down there, bh's solo is the highlight

Better -

1st leak - was interesting, but it cut off right before a very nu-metal sounding chorus

2nd leak - erased any doubt and incorporated the crazy intro very well into the song

Full leak - is fucking weird!  the second half takes all the rhythm right out of the song, even if it sounds like genuine emotion, which can sometimes carry a song.  well, it didn't work here.

Actually, I'm kinda pissed I erased the 2 min. clip.

Better, while interesting and indicative of talent, is simply not gonna be well liked by most people.  Plain and simple.  Most people on this board are so damn biased towards Axl that anything he puts out is gonna recieve outright praise.  Trust me, I'm obsessed with Axl and GNR, but TWAT and Better are simply not really catching me.  I'm quite dissapointed.

I agree (minus the TWAT part, I could see people digging a finished studio version of that song)....but better, as we are hearing it today, is too all over the place, too many bad transitions, simply too disjointed.  Oh my god was similar, it was just all over the place.  With other Guns songs that change tempo (NR, Coma, etc..) the transitions are much smoother and the tone of the song is the same...Better doesnt' just jump to "heavy" it LEAPS....and then it just tumbles back down to the slower part.  Its too dramatic of a change.  Whether it fits with the point or not is one thing....it just sounds bad.

I wonder if everyone is listening to this subjectively.  I don't think its a HORRIBLE song but its not amazing by any means of the word.  I did find myself subconsciencly humming it whilst at a meeting at work today though...but I bet listening to it for 2 hours straight had a lot to do with that.

The rest of the song kinda just slapped me. Wasn't expecting it at ALL. Really a Rhapsody.

Usually I hate that kinda heavy screaming (do they call it hardcore now?), but it wasn't that bad really, though I think if the rest of the song had been like the first 2 minutes I'd like it better...

I think it lost most of it's mainstream/radio friendly-ness there...

I agree with whoever said it LEAPS and then falls down too fast.

I still love it.

The full version kicks ass, if you read the majority of reactions, people here love it.

The great thing about this song is that nobody can agree on any part of the song. Some like the heavy bit, some like the Robin solo, some like the beginning, and so on.

As for transitions/smoothness - this is only a demo.

The sudden change is great because it suckerpunches you and then rocks hard. It's good to hear GN'R rocking hard after all this time. Many of the great GN'R songs have these sudden changes - Locomotive, Coma, November Rain, Rocket Queen.....

Axl just got raw on our asses, and it's about time!
