I think it's with Josh Freese, paul tobias, Robin Finck and Tommy Stinson.... More likely than this current lineup
which means, no BBF, no Brain, .... not sure about Pittman or Buckethead
Hopefully somebdoy will ilustrate me too

I wonder why they made it sound like it was live ?

I wonder why they made it sound like it was live ?
Because they took it from the Live Era album. Both came out in '99.
The vocals are identical. Which reinforces the general opinion that Axl re-recorded vocals
in studio
in 1999 for most of Live Era... most noticeable on Nightrain, Rocket Queen, and Sweet Child.
When Big Daddy came out, they were going to do Crowe's cover song and have it morph into GNR's during the credits. Crowe specifically did that song for the film's soundtrack, and the filmmakers are GN'R fans so maybe that's also part of the reason they wanted to use the original for the credits.
Axl wanted them to use the New GN'R version. However, Slash and the others still have control over that (Axl tried to re-record WTTJ for Black Hawk Down and Slash filed a lawsuit preventing it from happening, and Axl also tried to re-record other songs for soundtracks that were blocked before he was able to).
So, to get around this legal issue, Axl put the Live Era version on the Big Daddy soundtrack. Since Slash and co. were credited for the Live Era version, he could get away with it. He was essentially using - in print - a live version by the original band.
However
, they were still new vocals, as re-recorded for the Live Era album, so it wasn't *really* the original live version of the song, and I think he added new bandmembers' material on top of the track because parts of the solo sound different.
That's why it's the same as the Live Era track. Axl used a live track because it was the only way he could get around legal problems, but it granted him the ability to tweak the track (such as re-recording vocals) while maintaining the original bandmembers' ownership of it. If it weren't for legal hold-ups it probably would have been a studio track rather than a live track for the movie's credits.

What's strange is that the second part of the song is studio material, right ? First half is live Era but modified, but second half was GN'R from 1999.
But maybe I'm wrong.

Well I don't know if it's fact, but I'm 99.9% certain just from remembering talk about it at the time, that it starts out as a live version by the old band (Paris 1992 I think...) and then morphs into the studio version by the new band about midway through Slash's solo.

Nah, it's starts off live vocals and then there's new Axl studio vocals along with the new band recording. Well that's what I hear anyway, it is noticably different.

Second half of the song (from the Wehre do we go ? part) are new studio vocals from Axl, recorded with the new guys. And they kick ass by the way

Are you going to keep your hands away from the keys ? What's with all this 'old school' fucking trip you're on ? Mentioning that shit everywhere.
Man, if you want to get banned, why bother, just click this in your profile :
This thread is about SCOM by the current lineup, not about your old school trip shit.

Didn't Axl want to use a rerecorded version of WTTJ in Black Hawk Down, but the director wanted to use the old version? And refused to use the rerecorded version... That's what I thought..

I definitely think, that the '99 Version of SCOM is better than these one of AfD, because i think, that Robins Solo was way better, than in the old version. And the drums sounded a little bit better.
