I think it's easy to lose site of the greater GNR Reality beyond the fanatic message boards...

GnR was the biggest band of their generation, but they've fallen so far off the radar that I doubt most of their long time fans even know who's in the band anymore. ?I'm not talking about people who check the forums. I'm talking about people who love GNR but have gone on with their lives since old band crumbled in the mid-90's. ?

When these people hear that "Guns N' Roses" have a new album, of course they're going to buy it. ?But they'll be expecting something very different than what they're going to get (aka Jimmy Fallon syndrome). ?And when that happens, we might hear a lot more bitching about Axl.

And it's not going to be from die hard loyalists who are pissed about another missed release date... It's going to be from people who are far less forgiving of Axl, and far less willing to accept whoever's in the band at the time as "Guns N' Roses."

Just saying... This album's going to rock our world, but if you're expecting the rest of the world to be as enthusiastic as the people on the GNR Boards, then I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Point is -- is someone wants to be negative, let them. ?Live with it. ?That's the world we live in. ?People have different tastes and different feelings. ?You're never going to change their minds, so don't lose any sleep over it. ?Love what you love and don't waste your time on what other people think.

Actually, he who laughs last...took longest to get the joke.

Take a look at all the threads on the first page of this board - they all seem fairly positive to me - except "the dissing...has begun." I think people are just pissed off because Axl said they would be informed if there was any change or if the March 6th date wasn't going to happen. Instead he just went completely quiet. Well, unless you count Del James's letter, I suppose, but that didn't really explain anything. There are also many issues which the fans deserve explanations about (Philadelphia incident, for example). I'm not complaining myself, just saying its understandable some people might have grievences. The good news is threads proclaiming "this is not Guns N' Roses" have for the most part disappeared. I have no problem calling this band Guns N' Roses, but people saying they're better than the original band or that Finck is better than Slash, etc., even though they haven't released any official music, is just rediculous. So saying stuff like that is bound to get some replies which may appear negative.
