Italian GUNS N' ROSES Fan Site Shuts Down In Response To 'Chinese Democracy' 'Saga' - Mar. 8, 2007?

Italian GUNS N' ROSES fan site/community GNRonline.it has officially shut down as a result of the lack of official information regarding the band and the group's long-awaited new album "Chinese Democracy". The GNRonline.it administrators have issued the following statement regarding the matter:

"We regret to tell you that in relation to the protest we started on December 7th 2006, our GUNS fan sites and forums, GNRonline.it and GNRonline.org, will be shut down at once. The never-ending saga of 'Chinese Democracy', the lack of respect, clearness and mutual loyalty are just some of the reasons that has brought us down to this painful conclusion.

"Until now our detractors have always accused us of being 'Axl fanatics' (and to a certain degree, it is probably true) but today we aren't able to sustain Axl's project anymore, neither financially nor economically. We just can't afford to waste our heads on a project that has never even taken us into consideration. We gladly leave that to other 'fan' sites and forums that have the will and passion to be fooled around one more time. It is also sad that the aforementioned websites and forums, most of whom claim to have direct links to the GNR camp, have built a wall between them and other sites like ours (as well every other fan out there), reluctant to even start collaborations from whom we all would have benefit from.

"GNRonline shutting down will not only affect the flow of GNR news and discussions in Italy, but it will also tear apart a community of 3500 users who have been maintaining daily relationships and friendship through this website for many years now. Coherence though is one thing that have always been a key point of our conducts, and despite the fact that closing down upsets us a lot, this is the only thing that makes sense to do at this point.

"We still want to believe in Axl Rose and his record and we greatly wish that 'Chinese Democracy' would see the light of day before February 2008. If that will be the case we will make our best effort to re-open the site otherwise our domains will be lost and that will be the end of it."?

I'm sure Axl is hanging on every word.? Roll Eyes

Self-righteous fuckers.  I never even heard of these sites until this.

if you're so unhappy with loyal fans in the gnr community, leave. and don't come crawling back later either, "either get on board or fuck off".

I'm not unhappy with "blindly" loyal fans as much as I am entertained by their slight retardation.? ?Tongue?

calling me a retard, now? the sign of a great debater. i'm not even going to sink to your level. leave.

I've been "on board" this site since 2002, how about you? ?I've been a fan of GNR since Appetite was released. ?I cut up the Appetite CD box and hung it in my locker when I was in junior high. ?Have you even seen the cardboard boxes CDs used to come in? ?I doubt it. ?I'll support GNR however I want to...but I won't do it blindly. ? My guess is the real reason for this is either a financial decision or they just don't want to bother with the site any longer. Although I can't think of any exact examples right now, it's not the first time a fan site has closed in "protest" due to no info or bad behavior. It usually comes out later that money or lack of interest is the real reason. This may have made more sense a few years ago when NOTHING was happening. It seems like we are closer than ever, so why quit now?

I'll risk a bad karma...
and as I said at cd.com...

this guy is giving him self to much credit.
he's just a nobody.
who gives a fuck about italian forum.
he might have had 3500 members, but probably had 5 of his neighbors posting once in 10 years.

he's such a drama queen. if you cant handle it financially, then fuck off.
nobody asked you to create the damn forum in the first place.

what a fucking wimp. where does it say that they need to contact you?!
do they need to contact every fucking nerd that knows how to log on the net?!
damn!

does he think italians will stop listening to GNR because he says so?!

he's a freek, and should go to the asylum...
or at least start taking his medicine again.

what makes him better than a regular fucking fan?! he bought a domain name?!  Big fucking deal...

I hate nerds.

I just went to their site...
and this is the banner:

now let's be honest...

this is the gayest thing that ever came out of Italy...
even compared to this;

Wow is there really any need at all to disrespect Italy because an Italian GnR forum shut down? Does this hurt your feelings? The guy does have a valid point...why should he run a website with the enthusiasm of an album release that has been on the slate since 1999? I love HTGTH but people need to find something else to do than post 5000 times a day.

Even though I take some of their announcement as a direct stab at this site and even me personally, I'm gonna keep my opinions to myself.

All I'm gonna say is that they have every right to decide what to do with their own site and that the band doesn't owe us anything. We choose to be fans, the band didn't choose us.

Personally I can't relate to this way of thinking. I started this web site in 1996 because it seemed like a fun idea (turns out I was right). Not because I thought years later I could say the band owed me because I started a fan site.

There probably has been more information about the band in the recent twelve months than there's been in the five years prior to that.

the most recent case was with a BritBirt spears site, who cited bad behaviour but in actuality had been bought out by a Japanese firm I believe

This kind of protest has no sense as I wrote in that forum (I'm Italian). Not only Axl have to give something to the fans but anyother artists have to.
You can be angry against your government not against your favourite band. It has no sense to close it.
But I think and hope that they have a good reason for that.

"The never-ending saga of 'Chinese Democracy', the lack of respect, clearness and mutual loyalty"

Well, sorry guys, but I agree 100% with this line.

I also agree with this statement and the general sentiment behind the closing of the site.? What never ceases to amaze me, however, is the amount of blind loyalty for Axl.? Guess what loyalists...the italian websites don't owe the fans anything more than Axl does.? ?drool?

if you're so unhappy with loyal fans in the gnr community, leave. and don't come crawling back later either, "either get on board or fuck off".

What is your definition of "loyal"? I am just as loyal as you, but I can be "loyal" and still voice frustation. I am a HUGE Pittsbugh Steeler fan, they sucked yast year, all of us "loyal" fans were dissapointed, we discussed and questioned everything they did. Are we still not there biggest loyal fans? YES! So, Stop quoting what the band says, I think everyone on these boards are "on board with them". But what axl himself says tentative 3/6/07, then I expect him to deliver. Not on the tentative date, but somewhere in the ball park. April or May. That is hitting a tentative date. When they cant deliver what is promised, than us "LOYAL" fans have a right to bitch and complain, but we are still fans. And before you use the other stupid argument that "axl owes me nothing", you are right, but I expect him to deliver what he promises! if he wants to keep touring with a bunch of new guys playing somebody else's music, Fine, I will still go to the show, but just come out and say that is what you are doing.

do you have a problem with me quoting what the band says? do you feel uncomfortable when their quotes work against you?
here, let me quote some more:

"i dunno if soon is the word"
"either get on board or fuck off"
"if you're waiting, don't. live your life, that's your responsibility, not mine"

don't get your panties in a bunch now rofl

Axl is in the business of making music, which is to say that he hopes to sell CDs. ?FANS buy the CDs. ?We've had a 1 (arguably 2) Chinese Democracy tours WITHOUT a Chinese Democracy CD. ?We came out and supported these tours because:

1.) We wanted to hear our favorite old tunes
2.) ?We were interested in seeing the new band and hearing the new music.

Despite all the promises there has been NO (legitimate) new music. ?Would I shut down my site over this? No.

Do I think Axl owes his fans, the very reason for his relevance and success, more than he gives them? ?Yes, absolutely.

Will I lose sleep over this? Not a chance.
