Chinese Democracy (the song) doesn't even come close to the other material. I think it would be a huge mistake to release that song as the 1st single (but i highly doubt that they would).

Something tells me "Prostitute" would be a bad-ass first single. ? ?

the way forward for me is to release a song that nobody has heard as the first single.
TWAT would make a great 3rd single in the vain of November Rain.

i think they should have Better be the first single then madagascar (or TWAT what ev its all good) then IRS be the 3rd. After that maybe the blues, chinese democracy, prostitute, and so on but one song i'd like to hear on the radio is Rhiad and the Beduins i think that would be a killer tune played on the radio

With Better already getting a lot of airplay, it might have not have the same impact as a first single. For that reason, I think either I.R.S. (one that includes Robin's solo after the first verse) or CD (that sounds like the 2002 radio promo clip we heard) or something we haven't heard yet might be a better way to go. Not really sure why people are suggesting Prostitute when we haven't heard it yet.
Better would still do great I think.

^ That solo is why i ache for a studio version of IRS, like one leak has robin, the other bucket, what we need is one with both!

Maybe the old version, but the live version does and the studio will be killer!

man.. if they have a studio version of IRS that has both solos on it and it can capture that same energy it has when they play it live, it would be an excellent single.

I love IRS. I think it definitely rocks the hardest of all the newer material. I prefer it to "Better", but I'm in the minority on that front.

i dont think any of the leaked tracks should be a single. there has to be better material on the album than what has been leaked. though the leaked tracks are amazing, im sure there are better songs.

I would be really surprised if Better was not the first single. What reason does anyone have to believe it's not? It was featured in the leaked HD ad and has been leaked in some form to radio stations across the country. I guess we'll see, but I love Better as a first single.

Only if they want to be the biggest joke in music. IRS is an ok tune, but it's not single material, especially not for this band and this album. The first single has to be something uptempo, modern, different from any other GNR song, edgy, and still catchy. Better is the only song that fits the bill.

It could be a great single if they play it right. The current live version is pretty bare when it comes to guitars. The demo had some rocking guitars and riffs but the newer version is a bit bluesier and "lighter"...

nah. during the verses the guitars rock much harder on the live version...

Absolutely not.? I.R.S. will be dead in the water if it is released first.?
It is not an attention grabber for the average radio head.

The lirics are idiotic though
Definitely disagree.
IRS is a breakup song that takes a different approach from most.? To me, it captures the feelings of persecution and rage, as well as the desire for oneupmanship you feel in the aftermath.? And it does all this without losing sight of the "How could someone I loved do this to me" sentiments.? Quite singular, really.? Listen to it again.
Anyway, "Better" is by far the most accessible of the leaked songs.? TWAT and CITR probably shouldn't even be singles (though I like them both), especially not "Catcher"...far too out there...guaranteed bomb.

Maybe because a band member (I think it was Tommy) describe the "Prostitute" as the new line up's SCOM.

no. something new would be BETTER. Seriously, the tracks I have heard so far are no way near to Appetite in the 80s. OLD FANS OPINION but the tracks are good but the publicity ain't there.
