Let's face it and give them some credit.  No band is going to be able to do a cover song of another band and nail it perfectly and exactly.  They will put their own personality into it.   No one asked them to BE Van Halen!   No one asked Slash to play exactly like Eddie.

Good point.  Watching the Prince solo from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" right now, THAT was putting personality into it!

Not to throw gas on the Prince fire, but DAYUM.? Credit where credit is due.? I think that was from '05.? The dude can flat out get it.

On topic, the boys were OK,?not great by any means.?

I'd label their performance as "serviceable" overall.

Prince is beyond amazing.  Having seen him twice on the last tour he did a couple of years back, I was and have since been in awe of his musical genius.  The blistering solos he did both times to close the show with "Purple Rain" were some of the most amazing work I've ever had the privilege to witness.

Great performance by VR

Slash owned ! beer

He owned the intro to ATBL as well as the monotoned frontman owned all of the lyrics.  It's good that SW writes his own music, because he sure as hell can't sing theirs.
