When my boyfriend left me a couple of years ago (he joined the military) I felt like I was going to die.  I could not believe how badly it hurt.  As trite as it is, time heals MOST wounds (not all of them).  Unfortunately I don't think most people get over an old love until they find a new love. 
Love does suck when it doesn't go how we'd like.

I once had a former g/f tell me (after 4 years) ..I love you but I am not in love with you... took me a few months to figure that one out (basically you don' want to have sex with me anymore)  but at the time she said it, it was like wtf does that mean.  But with time you will get over her and move on.  Time heals all wounds they say, and it does but takes time.

I don't care how *gay* it sounds, but I couldn't really enjoy sex without love. I mean, I'd sure enjoy it while in the act, but I'd feel bad afterwards. I only want to be with someone if I feel there is a real future for the two of us.

And if other people like one-night-stands, good for them. I try not to judge other people. But that's just not for me.

Mr. Nixon, you have my condolences.  No breakup is easy.  Just be glad this happened before you got married or even worse...had kids.  I'm with you on the sex without love thing.  It's not for me.  That doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading about Sin Cut's exploits!  It's just a completely foreign concept to me personally.

Be happy that you aren't with the wrong chick when the right one is somewhere out there.
