I'm tellin' you guys it's Sorum on both.  Just Google Matt Sorum Days Of Thunder, and it will confirm it right away.  It's the first song he ever recorded with GN'R.  Just because Steven wasn't "officially" out of the band yet, doesn't mean they hadn't talked/jammed/whatever in who knows how long.  Matt Sorum on all (studio) versions of KOHD, Steven Adler on "Civil War".

I heard the Days of Thunder version of KOHD on the radio yesterday.  It was AWESOME!!  It's actually very different than the UYI2 version.    I used to have the CD but it was stolen along with my new radio out of my '67... (Someday I will find the @hole responsible for that!!)

Special Thanks to Almost Famous!!   Wink

It's really the same except there's an extra verse and extra nonsensical mumbo-jumbo talk on the answering machine (I think Axl says something like "it wasn't his fault, it wasn't fair").

Yep - in the second verse ("Mama put my guns in the ground...") etc, Axl talks after each lyric..."It wasn't their fault - how were they even supposed to know? All things can be healed with time.." stuff like that.

And Steven Adler plays drums. Like Jarmo said though - its no big deal if you never hear it.

It's Matt on drums.

The first song Matt recorded with the band was "Knockin' on Heavens Door" for the movie "Days of Thunder"

It's not very different but I actually prefer it to the UYI II version.

I don't think you can hear the song in the movie. I've got it at home and searched for it but couldn't find it.

You can still find the soundtrack on eBay, it's worth buying! I really like this version. And don't forget to look for your copy of the "Nobody's Child (Romanian Angel Appeal)" album which features a different version of Civil War.

Yeah, I've never heard of a different Civil War version either. Is this true?
